Locked Doors and Knocking v1.02 for Oblivion

* * This version supersedes v1.01. Do NOT use both versions together! * *

* * NOT compatible with Better Cities mod or other large mods that add or change houses * *

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fixes/Changes/Additions in version 1.02:

- added locked doors and knocking to most of the following city homes - Anvil, Bravil, Bruma, Cheydinhal, Chorrol, Leyawiin, and Skingrad.

- removed the pop-up message box for knocking and picking locks

- fixed various AI package errors

- added a feature where the NPC homeowners will not answer their doors when knocked on if their disposition is below 40.

- when the player knocks on a house door when the NPC owner is sleeping, it will awaken them. If the NPC homeowner was awoken by knocking, there will be a message on the screen when they come out that says, for example "Tamika Looks Sleepy". This means that the NPC lost -15 disposition towards the player.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fixes/Changes/Additions in version 1.01:

- corrected a mistake that made certain doors knockable which weren't won't supposed to be.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This mod makes most private residence doors (except Imperial City) locked 24 hours per day, whether the homeowner is home or not. Also adds the ability to knock on most locked private residence doors

-----------------------------------------------------------

Using this mod:

To knock, activate the chosen residence door without sneaking. You will hear the knocking sound on the door if it is locked. If it is not locked, it will open automatically. To pick the lock, sneak then activate the locked door. Just remember that most residence doors will be locked 24 hours per day. If the NPC is home, they will answer the door in about 10 seconds or so. Once in a while the ai package will be overridden by another package. You may need to knock twice if you know they are home and their disposition is above 40. Upon answering, they will step outside to talk to the player. The door will remain locked. They will stand to the left of their door, and wait for a little while. If you walk away, they will re-enter their house again. If the NPC homeowner is sleeping when you knock on the door, the NPC will lose 15 disposition towards you for waking them up. If their disposition falls below 40, they will not answer the door when knocked on. If the NPC homeowner was awoken by knocking, there will be a message on the top of the screen when they come out that says, for example "Tamika Looks Sleepy". This means that the NPC lost -15 disposition towards the player when you woke them up. Remember, NPC homeowners will not answer their doors if their disposition is below 40!

If you decide to pick the lock instead, you will be trespassing upon entering. There will be no trespass warning. It is an automatic crime if you are caught. You may even be attacked on sight. Think carefully before breaking into people's homes!

I made this mod because I always thought it was ridiculous that the player could just walk into people's homes, and the owner didn't care. Hopefully this mod will make game play a little bit more realistic and challenging.

As far as I know, this mod is the first of it's kind for Oblivion. In later versions I may also make some vendor's doors knockable at night when locked so the player will be able to talk with them, but the shopkeeper may not be so happy about being woken up!

More tips/info:

*Remember that if the NPC homeowner does not answer their door when knocked on, there are 2 possible reasons why. Either they are not at home, or their disposition towards you is below 40.*

*Occasionally you may need to knock twice due to AI package changes. But be careful, they might also be sleeping or they don't want to talk to you!*

*usually the head of the house answers the door. There may be other NPC's living there, but usually only the head if the household (homeowner) will answer it*

*some private homes are not locked due to there being at least two trainers living there, or due to game quests that make it necessary for the player to enter the home legally*

*This mod should not interfere with game quests. You will still be able to talk to everyone you need to by knocking on their doors.*

*This mod may or may not be compatible with other mods that change doors. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK*

*Imperial City homes and wilderness homes/farmhouses/camps to be added in time*
