Tried so many things to get this to work, its an essential mod IMO.

These are the only things i have installed:
    ----------------
    1. Steam version of oblivion
    2. OBSE 21
    3. FoV modifier
    4. Unofficial Patch
    ----------------
-The mod does NOT auto-correct the FoV, the only thing ive seen it do is correct the UI so that its usable (at FoV 90), but you have to type in "fov 90" everytime you either accidentally go 3rd person or talk to someone because it will go back to 75 everytime.
-Saving and loading does not work
-Creating new character does not work
-Changing the .ini fov to 90 does not work. (in game you will have 90 ofc, but the UI is broken, off center elements and broken dialogue options and the "set customfov to" command will not fix the broken UI)

Tested some more things as i was writing and this is what i have to do now:

This might be annoying but, make the ini read only by rightclicking it and choosing properties, then in game open up console and write:
    SetINI "fDefaultFOV:Display" 90
That will make this work as long as the game is open, but you have to write it everytime you start the game again.
i wish there was an easy way to just bind a key for the command, but here we are.
    (edit 1)
After some testing, making the ini read only might not be needed, also unsure if 1.0 of this mod also helps.
The conlusion is that its a bit frustrating.
    (edit 2)
    After more testing
    1. Using mod version 2.0
    2. Locking ini with read only (just make sure base fov is 75 there before locking)
    3. write the command (in bold above, make sure you spell it correctly)

Tested multiple times to make sure its the way with 3rd person, opening menu and talking to npc's back and forth, but this will only last until exit of the game, then you have to repeat the process.
Only thing I have not tried is a using a modmanager that can change load order of the mods, maybe that is the solution.

After Testing, You don't even need the Mod !
Your method works great without the mod.

I thought also that this FOV Modifier didn't work (or at least couldn't bing up that UI that is shown on front page). Turns out that one have to use console and Set CustomFOV to #
Where # represent a number from 1-110 for FOV.

I would recommend to install this utility "Console Paste Support" which make it possible to use copy and paste into console commands like this.

Make sure that you have installed OBSE correctly. OBSE should be placed inside DATA folder like thise [...]DATA/OBSE/

Path for plug in: [...]DATA/OBSE/plug in

Here in this folder you should place those DLL files (and also files that are ini or explain what that plug in is meant to do, so you  find which plug in to replace if that is needed in the future).

I do this manually even when I use MO2 for everything else.

The main difference according to front page between version 1 and version 2 is that one had that UI and with version 2 you need to use that console command to set FOV.

I can confirm that at least for me this is working now, but avoid to set it too high as at 110 you will probably have fish eye view that doesn't look well when playing in 3rd person.

In first person my bow isn't in my face as it was before. Combine this mod with Enhanced Camera which help to look up and down where you will be able to see your characters front when looking down and have a more easy way to see plants or loot on ground and when looking up you will be able to see the tip of your sword which where almost impossible in first person view.

Hope this will help to continue your modding of Classic Oblivion.

It is a very good game when modded to look more updated and with Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul a very different game play with creatures that attack each other and not only you. Have very complex package of crafting, pets that you can tame, feed and use as companion. Mount and control of mount through a spell (can be change in ini file to follow you or even work as a summon as long your horse aren't dead).

I believe Maskar is working on a version for Oblivion Remastered, but those changes for how one can mod OR wil probably cause more time to get it to the state MOO is for Classic Oblivion.

Lession no 1: read instruction, take a cup of tea, read instruction again and use a mod manager like MO2 (Mod Organizer 2). Install one mod, test if it is working, close game and check that you have understood how mod is supposed to be controlled through console, keybinds that needs to be set up or where in UI that you can find access to control mod.

LINK++ (which also are using OBSE) is very good for those mods that have been set up for it as you can directly make changes and see how it will look. Darnified UI have also direct access in the same way LINK++ offer, Darnified UI Config is necessary to be able to save those changes between session.

Don't know why this mod removed its UI, but I suspect it didn't work as well as mod creator had first thought as you need to trigger a new game to get this UI to show and have more restriction on how to bring this UI up while playing. The other feature should be able to work independent from changing FOV when FOV have been set up and adjust FOV, if you are in UI dialogue or Journal mode (look at Darnified UI files for menu and you will see which more states that make use of UI mode) and then return to a higher FOV in 3rd or 1st person view.

With console command, you will now always have access to change FOV. LINK would have countered possible issues with UI not showing as you can make changes even when game are running and those will be instantly applied.

Doesn't work at all. I type in the custom fov command to change it to 95 and nothing happens. It says it is setting the global to 95 but it doesn't.

I've tried it too and I think it affects the conversation fov. but the immediate effect is that the realtime shadows of Oblivion Reloaded E3 start shaking. I think that may be my incompatibility.

With my incompatibility, I just have to set Oblivion Reloaded not to handle FOV

This mod literally just doesn't work at all lol, don't waste your time on this

I was stupid and did not properly get xOBSE working. I'm running the game through steam proton in linux, apparently you have to use the original OblivionLauncher.exe file to enable mod .esp files, and then you have to replace OblivionLauncher.exe with the obse .exe renamed to OblivionLauncher.exe to get a mod working with OBSE. It actually works flawlessly, even properly resets after dialogue and menus, the game launches with the correct fov once you do the console command to set it.

      Me too but,
The HUD is not displayed, but I am able to maintain the FOV value I want by

      1. Install This Mod
      2. Open oblivion.ini
      3. edit "fDefaultFOV" as you with (Default 75)
      4. Play (you will see message from this mod)

For people having problems try launching the game through your steamapps folder and the obse loader exe. Seems like vortex cant load it right for some reason.

Works great for me so far. The menu doesn't come up at all, but when I load a save it auto-sets to 90 fov, which is good enough for me. Windows 11 running Oblivion through MO2.

works fine. Linux, Proton (PortWINE, if to be more precise), xOBSE. you can see the game go back to 75 for a split second, when switch between 1st and 3rd person, but it does not disturb much.

    Hello,

I removed the Oblivion.esm dependency from this mod, so it can be used with Nehrim:
