Permissions and credits
A new version is coming soon. It will be released as a separate file. Watch the Updates Today/Recently for it!

Description:
a mysterious, giant, golden sword enhanced with visual fire has appeared in the market square with your name on it.

The sword is named Carsomyr after the great paladin blade The Holy Avenger: Carsomyr in Baldurs Gate II, but is not to be thought of as an exact replica of the sword. This is specifically for Oblivion.

-As described from Baldurs Gate II (edited for relevance):
The Holy Avenger: Carsomyr
Carsomyr is a weapon of legend, perhaps one of the most powerful blades ever forged on Faerun, though its origin and history is thought purposefully forgotten, such that the sword itself never overshadow the importance of the struggles that must be fought today. It is infused with the very essence of virtue, and requires as much from any paladin that would hope to wield it. The evils of the Realms must truly stand aside when this weapon is brought to bear. Carsomyr also harbors a special distaste for the forces of evil and chaos and such creatures must fear its touch in battle.

In this mod: the sword comes with a script that turns the flames off when unused and turns on when wielded. The sword is enchanted with fire damage, weakness to fire for those monsters that are fire resistant, dispels a small amount to keep in line with the namesake, and drains a little strength to keep in line with the theme of evils banishment. All to semi-match the swords lore, but not too the point of being overly powered. However, it will be a bit powerful for new characters. It is suggested to be used around level 20. I personally waited to start using it when I reached the point that ebony weapons became available to me. The sword was tested on several guards and with a 35 paladin (spellsword class comparable) the fight was not overly powered by me. One further note, the nature of the scripting that is used to turn the flames off makes the weapon regenerate every time you sheath it and wield it again, thus you never have to repair or recharge the enchantment, the way a divine blade should be. In long battles you may even find that the sword runs out of charges. Simply unarm to put it back and then start the fight again. Think of it as the sword being apart of you and needs a rest.

Location:
The sword is simply located in front of A Fighting Chance at the foot of the statue in the Imperial City. There may be a quest for it added later if time permits me.

Requirements:
Unsure of whether or not OBSE is required, but I am using version 16. I've gotten a few reports of some crashes and using version 16 seems to have solved it. Also, unsure if the latest patch is needed, but it wouldn’t hurt to have either of these installed regardless. SI or KOTN are not required.

Installation:
Just place the files in the Data directory where Oblivion is located and merge with the existing folders. After placing the files, simply activate the esp by the usual means.

Uninstalling:
Delete the Carsomyr file that is in Meshes/weapons. Delete the Carsomyr file under Textures/menus/icons/weapons. Delete the Carsomyr file under Textures/weapons. And finally, delete the esp under Data.

Issues or bugs:
If you choose to remove the enchantment via a disenchanting mod, the flames may no longer be on the blade. Also, I believe if you repair it past 100 points to 125, it will reset back to 100. Unfortunately, this is something that cannot be fixed unless someone knows a way to do so. If you do, PM me and we can try it.

Version History:
-Version 1.1b: 1-29-09
added a new scaled down version for those who do not like the size of the original. If you like the original size, like the one in the pictures, use version 1.1
-Version 1.1: 1-12-09
Increased sword and fire damage, increased weakeness to fire amount.
-Version 1.0 - initial release
