About this mod

Looting armour and weapons from a dead guard is stealing. These items are flagged as stolen when the player takes them from dead guards. Wearing guard armour in cities the guard armour originates from will make the guards in those cities suspicious of the player. Eventually, the player will be arrested for impersonating a guard.

Changes since last update (0.53)
================================
0.54, 14 March 2009:
tweak: Impersonating guards is a crime is automatically disabled when my Clothing matters mod is active.
Clothing matters has an extended version of this component.
But when Clothing matters is not active, this component works as normal.

Description
===========

Details
=======
When looting the body of a dead guard, its armour and weapons can be flagged as having an "owner".
NB: Items that have an owner are flagged as stolen when the Player picks them up.

Any other items (e.g. Gold) can still be pilfered.

An ini file exists that can be used to configure which items can be taken safely.
E.g.: weapons, gauntlets and boots are usually non-descript that they can be easily taken.
But helmets, body armour, and shields with standards are not.

Bounty (by default 250) is added once every hour a guard sees the player wearing guard armour.
Eventually the player's bounty will be large enough that guards will accost the player.
It is less inconspicuous to have a full-set of armour.
So wearing as much as possible decreases the value of this crime.
For example: wearing only the guard helmet will make the guards more suspicious, so the value of this crime is more than when wearing a full-set of armour.
Once added to the player's bounty, the crime cannot be removed until the fine is paid.
This simulates the guards' increasing suspiciousness.

Compatibilities/Incompatibilities
=================================
This mod only adds Bounty with ModCrimeGold.

If you find that the player's bounty fluctuates unusually, it could be caused by a region-based crime tracking mod that you are using:
e.g.: Reneers Guard Overhaul or SM Bounty.

This is currently not compatible with Reneers Guard Overhaul (version 1.89, 16 February 2009)
(discussions are here: http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=923413&view=findpost&p=13826738)
nor with any mods that allow the player to join the ranks of guards.

But this is compatible with SM Bounty (Startegy Master's regional bounty mod).
Note that I found that Bounty gained in the Imperial City exists outside the gates of Chorrol.
But not inside Chorrol. (I fast travelled to Chorrol.) This could be a bug in SM Bounty.

Please report bugs of these sort and I'll check if they are caused by this mod or others.

History
=======
0.53, 18 February 2009:
Impersonating a guard is a crime.
Bounty (by default 250) is added once every hour a guard sees the player wearing the same type of armour they are wearing.
This simulates the increasing suspiciousness of the guards.

The previous update didn't really work. I had to revert back to the older method where the Container menu is closed then re-opened.
Bug-fix: will now work regardless of which key/mouse button the Activate control is mapped to.
0.51, 2009 January 7: Seamless looting of the dead body now. i.e.: You don't see the Container menu close then re-open. Thanks to ShadMe, CLShade, and Haama at the Bethesda forums for use of OnKeyDown.
0.5, 2009 January 4: Initial release.
