Does anyone know how to get the Lock It In Its Place feature to work? I can't for the life of me figure it out. I've tried holding up the item I want frozen and then holding down block and tapping E to activate, but I just pick the item up. Am I doing it wrong or what? Could use some advice.
For those who are interested, LiiiP is activated by dropping an item from your inventory in grab mode by holding Shift+Left Click (you only have to hold the left mouse button after you're kicked out of inventory menu). While you're holding the left mouse button and moving this thing around, you press the grab button (normally Z) when you're ready to lock it; you actually lock it now by doing as the readme says, pressing activate while you hold block.
So at the moment of locking, you're holding 3 buttons minimum - Right mouse button (attack), left mouse button (block), and Activate (space)
I'm having an issue using NorthernUI with Put it in its Place - Enhanced Grabbing. If i use Z to grab things, PiiP works, but if i use LB to grab, will not work.
Shademe please I beg you. Your mod is a must for Oblivion but so is NorthernUI and unfortunately they conflict. Would you be able to research for a possible patch? NorthernUI adds game pad controls into the game.
Hello. I went into a store, and of course one of their scrolls on display got knocked to the floor. I picked it up and put it back with the other scrolls, and the store owners thanked me and their disposition towards me increased. That was the only time something like that has happened to me in a video game. This mod is the bee's knees.
I cannot for the life of me get things to lock in place, even with all the instructions. The second I nudge a locked object with another object, it unlocks and moves. What the hell? Can't say I'm too surprised, this mod's 12 years old now. Lord knows what could be going wrong. Edit: Whelp. Readme says locked objects will be unlocked if they're bumped... SO WHAT THE **** IS THE POINT OF LOCKING IT IF IT DOESNT ACTUALLY LOCK IT?? Aside from that confusing bit of frustration, this is otherwise a very useful mod.
I had one of my most terrifying Oblivion experiences while using this mod.
I was arranging my legitimately acquired books and trinkets on a shelf in Skingrad while sneaking to control my movement speed, when, suddenly, my maid shoves me violently to the ground and berates me! She kept shoving me repeatedly, too. Honestly, I'm pretty sure I actually screamed out loud, I was taken so off-guard. I kind of thought I'd have to kill her to get away and I was pretty badly rattled and confused about the situation, and she also knocked things off my shelves during this assault. The anti-khajiit sentiment with some NPCs...
Anyway, she then tired of this bullying and booked it downstairs. After that we apparently were friends again.
It was probably one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.
As I can see the discussion of this great mod has been going on till now even despite the fact its final version was released more than ten years ago, and most importantly, the author himself still enters the discussion. Therefore, I dare to also ask a question about the main problem of this mod, namely action button not working after loading save made during certain actions. First of all I mean NPCs pillaging items from the ground as such actions are very easy to overlook. For example the player can save in Imperial city not seeing what happens nearby, just around the corner. And there some NPC can pick up some item from the ground. Or he/she can do it in adjacent interior cell of someone's house if the game registers actors' actions in nearby non-loaded cells. These are conditions necessary for this bug to appear on the next save load. There're two more conditions that also lead to this bug with action button not working - saving while house owner calling for the guards in Player Push Over (PPO) mode and saving while grabbing an item. But the latter two situations are much easier to predict as they are entirely controlled by the player unlike the first one. Hence I have a question - can this great mod be updated in order to fix this bug at least for the first situation with NPC picking up the item from the ground? And why wasn't this bug fixed back then, in 2010 final version?
Be careful when using CM Partners. Your party members can very well make an attempt on your life if you get a little too invested in furniture rearrangement, even if within your own home.
this mod doesn't seem to be much friendly to long save files, the newest saves I have this works fine, but on the oldest it gets buggy or doesn't work at all. +the many people saying it isn't very compatible with OBSE, and the very gamebreaking bugs. And the Lock it in it's Place function's requirements are really inconvenient (having to click and hold on the item inside inventory till it's being held by you, both mouse buttons held and Grab key, too many steps)
I had this work well Once, and for what it did it was quite good, I really wish this mod where to be updated and maintained but I can't be using it no longer, if the bugs told here trigger it will ruin my saves and I won't be starting a new save so soon
Not sure if everything in the mod is working for me either, can't even lock things in place - Does the Ini need tweaking before you can use this?
Edit: Oh I got the lock to work after much difficulty, and it seems like any object that you try to lock near another locked object will just.. Unlock the previously locked objects - Wish we could like.. Rotate and disable physics for objects but I guess it'll do. Morrowind REALLY had a better system in my opinion.
I tried pressing Grab (Z) when looking at an NPC and I just grab at their face like I'm trying to steal their nose, before they get angry and yell for the guards - lol.
