    Five years later I've rebuilt my Oblivion game from scratch, and this time I'm having a similar problem as five years ago: My Dunmer character can't enter leyawiin castle. hundreds of fame points and zero infamy. The door is busted, just like last time; NPCs can't use it either. The crime system in oblivion is crap, and I really need this mod to work to give it some kind of challenge. No amount of deactivating certain parts of the mod is working at all. If no one else has this problem, I could assume its some kind of incompatibility. Perhaps with a race mod. Is there any support for this mod remaining?

    Uh-oh! I joined the thieves' guild and did the first two missions. Now my infamy is up to 7 and all the city gates are just broken. The guards say my paperwork is in order, I have no bounty, my fame is 52, gates are just non-responsive. Deactivating the mod fixes it, and when I reactivate, things are groovy for a moment, but after using a gate its all broken again. I can get through one gate per deactivate/reactivate cycle. I'm actually trapped in Leyawiin until I deactivate this mod. All city gates (tested in Bravil also) and the entrance to the castle are non-responsive. This mod was working perfectly until now. I installed COBL, is that the culprit? I know nothing...
    (I'm insode the city via use of a teleport spell, but I've checked the gates from the other side, of course, and they really are sealed)

    EDIT: I went and closed an oblivion gate to gain a fame point: no dice. I used a different mod to reduce my infamy to 0 and the gates began to work again. I guess its possible that its not broken, but I expected the guards to have something to say about why the gate is sealed. The readme says infamy factors more prominently than fame, but with a 7 to 53 spread I expect something else is going on...

    Also, the gates seems to be closed to all NPCs as well as player.

    Double Edit: Four gates and four fame points later, the gates are open. This mod works fine, always has. It would be cool to have a dialog with the gate guard about how he doesn't think it'd be a good idea to let me in, even though I'm a free man. Its not like I was caught with the Bust of Lythasa or anything. I am the fraggin' hero of Kvatch. So, what is the difference in influence between infamy and fame in this mod?

    This Just In: It is a glitch that happens when I attempt to activate a castle entrance. When I do, all city entrances become non-responsive. the problem is over now that I've switched off restricted castles. Maybe it's a better cities clash

    File hidden because of bugs found, they are being corrected as I write.
    The bugs consisted of:
    Chorrol city gates not recognized as "Reztricted Doors", which means you can walk through the door even though you should be banned. - Fixed
    The "days left on your ban" message when talking to the gate guard was not working properly. - Fixed
    The temporary bans where not updated as they should, which means that sometimes the ban just isn't applied. - In progress


    Well my reason for not restricting the IC is simply that the Imperial City is supposed to be a massive walled capital with hundreds and hundreds of citizens. Even the towns are actually large communities, but I figured the flow of people in and out through the gates are much lower in the towns than in the IC.
    But I'm guessing you already read that.

    Anyway, I am considering adding restrictions to the Tower and maybe to the more "upstanding" districts of the city, as these are smaller areas with less traffic.
    But I will not put gate guards at the main gates into the city, it's just not possible to check the papers of every single man and woman entering such a large city.

    i think you SHOULD restrict access to the imperial City, ESPECiALLY the Gold Tower. There are so many ways that one can sneak into the city, i don't see why you'd be concerned about reinforcing the restricted access. if you're a criminal who needs inside that bad, you're gonna sneak your way in anyway, right?

    What if there were simply iC guards posted at the front gate, NW (prison) gate and waterfront gate? For the Gold Tower, there should be guards posted ALL AROUND the base who are VERY strict. it may also be a good idea to add extra entrances to each city...or at least make sure the mod is compatible with popular mods that already do.

    Currently existing secret entrance mods (there are more):
    Aoshis - Download
    Berdryns - Download
    TIE - Download

    On top of these I may create a Secret entrance mod of my own that combines the best ideas from these three.

    And the behaviour you describe mondo is exactly what happens right now if you are seen inside town when banned <img class=">

    Now if we could only get a mod that adds hidden/unguarded entrances to cities. Like underground tunnels and the like. And if you're caught inside the town while you're banned, they'll throw you out and your ban goes up a few days. -shrugs- just a thought. <img class=">
