Haven't looked at the actual mesh yet but a note on the installer-it ALWAYS points to the "default" directory for Oblivion- "Crogram FilesBethesda SoftworksOblivionData". Now for most people this might not be a problem but there are three situations I can think of that make this problematic, the last of which applies to me.
-If for some reason you decided to install Oblivion into a "custom" directory.
-If you have Oblivion installed on a hard drive other than "C".
-If you have Oblivion installed on a 64-bit OS (wherein the game by default installs to "Program Files (x86)").
I had a bit of trouble installing the mod because of this, and for a moment I thought I needed to install the thing with administrator permissions, but then I looked at where the installer was pointed and figured out the problem.
Really, for a mod like this that just adds ONE item to the game, it's best to just put it together in a RAR or ZIP file. Most people know how to unzip such files and where to move their contents. Having an installer can be handy and helpful but unless you can program it to scan for registry files to locate player's Oblivion installation, it's a bit more trouble to deal with than it's worth.
On another note, I'm working on a mod called Hyrule Isle and we might like to use this mesh if it has a good enough quality to it. I'll have to look at it first-it might need some texturing work and judging from some of the comments the mesh itself may not be of the quality we're looking for so we might have to produce something from scratch anyway. I think I'll also comment again and rate once I've had a look at it as well.
Okay, I'd rate this 6.5/10-I have no idea how to do this yet however since I haven't really rated a mod here before and the "vote" link says something about a 15 minute timer which makes no sense to me.
The mesh itself looks to be fairly good quality and the hilt looks nice although I think it should have some kind of bit which transitions into the sword itself. If you look at a picture of Fierce Deity Link you should see that the base of the blade has a black bit which connects to the handle of the hilt-it's really thin and doesn't look like it should be able to handle the weight of the sword but really similiar issues exist regarding about just any other Japanese Video Game B.A.S. lol
I'll admit that the black bit could also just be a shadow and not actually part of the hilt of the sword. Anyway, the texture for the blade looks kind of rudimentary and it really has the feel of something that was "synthesized" in Photoshop. I can see a bit of work went into the detail but it just looks sort of cartoony and like it doesn't fit that well into the more realistic style of Oblivion.
That said, looking at the texture itself I think it wouldn't be that hard to retexture and I think I might take a shot at it.
i think you should make the fierce deities gear to go with this! I havn't seen any of links gear about "> this saddens me lol Fierce deity link was awesome, i can remember there was a gameshark code that allowed you to be FD link outside of boss rooms, he was huuuuge!!!
._. *jaw drop* I...love...you... ha ha ha...I remember when I got Majora's Mask I was so excited, but I fell in LOVE with Fierce Deitys sword when I was finally able to become him!
I give a rating of 7 I put all the files in the right place but the textures are FUBAR. the textures all over the sword look scrambled.
.....I went back and tried it under OBSE_Loader and now the entire sword is black. Then i got in a fight and it textures went with a checkered black + random color texture, then later it scrambled again but with the tip of it mostly dark blue....wtf is going on?
