For those using mo2 wanting to uninstall: mo2 creates another oblivion ini separate from og oblivion's and it's located in appdata/local/ModOrganizer/profiles/[your profile's name] Edit this oblivion.ini to fix the fonts.
mo2 has an .ini editor built-in, you just the click the button with red symbol somewhere at the top above the mod list and you can change the font there and back.
edit Oblivion.ini (C:\Users\Documents\My Games\Oblivion) with notepad, find "fonts" and edit these below
[Fonts] SFontFile_1=Data\Fonts\DarN_Immortal_28.fnt<== this are main menu, inventory, headlines fonts SFontFile_2=Data\Fonts\DarN_Kingthings_Petrock_14.fnt <== character stats text SFontFile_3=Data\Fonts\DarN_Kingthings_Petrock_16.fnt <== main texts SFontFile_4=Data\Fonts\DarN_Oblivion_28.fnt<== bold texts ( i think ) SFontFile_5=Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt
Oh yeah, game will obviously crash if you don't have the fnt files Download Darn archive version, extract or copy all fonts from there to Oblivion\Data\Fonts
As with many in this thread, I'm suffering from the "black chubby text". As far as I'm aware I've done little wrong in terms of installation. I installed using Wrye Bash (using the BAIN files linked previously in this thread), and followed the readme file that tells me how to change the font to that of my liking;
It succeeds in changing the main menu font (Continue, New game, options, etc) but all other menus have the bloated black font. As far as I'm aware there are no UI mods I have installed that would clash with this one, but linked is the installer and mods tab of Wrye. https://files.catbox.moe/x77i7f.png https://files.catbox.moe/5jsp9g.png
If anyone is able to help, it'd be much appreciated. I'm not totally computer illiterate, but if I need clarification I'll be sure to ask.
Yeah I just downloaded this mod plus the "DarNifiedUI Config Addon" and "Pluggy" mods yesterday and saw the black huge font on the character creation screen at the start of the game. I tried loading one of my current saves and the game crashes for each save I try :( I wonder how to fix this black font problem.
EDIT: Ahhh~ Well I seem to have fixed the black font problem by not installing this mod, but instead installing the "DarNified UI 132-BAIN" mod here: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/22170?tab=description
I am using Wrye Bash as my mod manager and I guess needed to use the "BAIN" version of DarNfied UI for it to work. I don't quite understand all the font choices and "Small" vs "Large" font choice in the INI Edits column in Wrye Bash, but the mod seems to be working okay. I don't love that there doesn't seem to be an option for the Sneak Eye to be on the crosshair anymore and the icons on the bottom left of the HUD seem low resolution compared to the original, but the menus are much better being able to see more items/spells.
Here was the link I downloaded from, the same as yours to my understanding. Were there any additional steps you took once you had loaded via Wrye, or not as far as you can recall?
Anyone with the same problem might want to install this mod via OBMM [Oblivion Mod Manager] with OMOD file. You'll welcome with an "installer" that let you pick what features to your liking and most likely will install the mod properly (exclude conflict with other mods)
This are rather easy fix by editing Oblivion.ini (C:\Users\Documents\My Games\Oblivion) with notepad
SFontFile_1=Data\Fonts\DarN_Immortal_28.fnt<== this are main menu, inventory, headlines fonts SFontFile_2=Data\Fonts\Kingthings_Shadowed.fnt<== all 3 are DEFAULT fonts. the culprit for the big bold texts SFontFile_3=Data\Fonts\Tahoma_Bold_Small.fnt <== - remember - this mod make everything smaller SFontFile_4=Data\Fonts\Daedric_Font.fnt<== might wanna use larger version of font for all these 3 if it's too smol SFontFile_5=Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt
Default DarnifiedUI fonts after installation
SFontFile_1=Data\Fonts\DarN_Immortal_28.fnt<== may change during installation SFontFile_2=Data\Fonts\DarN_Kingthings_Petrock_14.fnt SFontFile_3=Data\Fonts\DarN_Kingthings_Petrock_16.fnt SFontFile_4=Data\Fonts\DarN_Oblivion_28.fnt SFontFile_5=Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt
There are mod on this website that generate fonts. You can modify or make your own font if it's too small
Mod had the black font issue all over, uninstalled it and it broke my game entirely; I can't start it at all unless I reinstall. This mod is a huge pain in the ass to get it working properly.
Used to work without any issues a decade back. I don't know what happened in the meantime but all the good mods seem to be broken to some extent or require more in-depth knowledge to get them working properly, even while using MO2.
Tell me this mod does not need OBMM in the year of our Lord, 2025. In sincerity, I know improvements in the scope and efficiency of modding don't matter if the game and the mod are both more than 10 years old, but I'm hoping MO2, Wrye Mash/Bash, etc. can do the job at this point? Maybe?
Anyone know how to get rid of this arrow like in the images for this mod? Ignore the smaller blue arrow, this is from Extended UI. The bigger arrow remains no matter what.
edit: just use oblivion mod manager. yes i know, you're using something else for all your mods just like me, but ONLY OBMM installs this mod properly and without any extra hassle. no i don't know why.

Huge pain in the ass to mod this game, praying for that remake.
(EDIT: Realized that you already made a point that the mod is old, my point abt modding this game sucking still stands though.)
