Oblivion

After neglecting it for too long, I've finally updated Epic Necromancy to iron out all of the reported bugs (including creatures attacking necromancers) and add a few features (including adjustable aggression levels).

Major changes:

  • Creatures will no longer be aggressive to other necromancers, ending the bloodbaths going on in peoples lairs.
  • Creature aggression is now adjustable in the .ini, letting you take your undead followers into civilisation with you if that's how you like to play! You can also adjust their movement with a multiplier.
  • The final-tier Skeleton Sentinel has had a HUGE overhaul, making it as interesting and game-changing as the Ancient Zombie: instead of farting about with a sword and bow and often losing both, it now uses a claymore and lightning magic and serves as a leader for a skeleton army! It now has the ability to manage it's own bloodlust and use it to heal and buff any skeletons assigned to follow it, with several stages of logic making sure it uses its resources effectively. It will keep some reserved for the badly damaged, focus on buffing melee skeletons, and only bother healing superficial damage out of combat when there is plenty of bloodlust to spare.
  • Creatures can no longer be hostile to you or your followers.
  • Crime detection for your creatures has been added, adding a bounty to your character when they assault or murder civilians. At present, the bounty scales to the number of creatures that are running wild, so attacking a town with a horde of skeletons will quickly rack up a huge bounty on your head. This can change if people think it's trash garbage though. The bounty will only be added if someone who is witnessing the crime is able to see the player however, so if you are a sneaky, you can get away with murder!

There are many more bugfixes, small features and tweaks, so feel free to look over the changelog. Every single bug that was reported using the bug tracker has been addressed and I found as many as I could in the comments, so thank you to everyone that reported an issue! If you decide to give the mod a whirl and find any issues, please do report them in the nexus tracker, and I'll try to get them fixed asap this time- I want to leave the mod in good working order.

There are a few plans I'd like to bring in with future updates, though these won't have any planned times. You can find them all here on a trello board I made (because I'm a big nerd and I love trello boards):

https://trello.com/b/5xXHxWWZ/epic-necromancy-2-0

I'd like to first look at the iMmErSiOn of the mod, adding steps to creating the undead and ways to be a necromancer in the wild without relying on a lair or the necromancers inn. Then I'd like to look at lair gameplay; right now its very simple, and I'd like to see a bit more life to creatures and necromancers that join, and bring the 'lair defence' aspects into the foreground by helping battles occour when you are actually there to see them, maybe even letting attackers destroy your stuff if you aren't careful. finally, I'd like to take a look at necromancers as a faction and their battle against the mages guild, bringing that into the gameworld a little bit. Across these updates, I'd love to take a look at the skeletal shambles and flesh atronach creatures, as I feel like now the Skellyman sentinel has been made more interesting, they are sorely lagging behind.

Just to say again: thank you to everyone that reported issues with the mod and helped me make these fixes, and sorry it took me so long to come back to the mod! Any bug reports in the future will go straight to my emails and I'll get on them as soon as I can. As for the planned updates, they might be over the course of months or years: this mod is less like a hobby now that I'm more into game design with the unity engine, and more like that story about the old man painting the boat. If there's something you'd really love to see though give me a nudge!

    Necromancers still attack minions.
