Ha, I'm anxious to learn how you pulled off this trick.

This one is an experiment, not entirely happy with it yet. Its done by creating the ivy as an object rather than a bitmap. You can then apply a drop shadow in photoshop or corel photo paint or duplicate the object, place it behind the original, lower the brightness and apply an opacity value to it. Still with me?May use this trick on the grass i am also building atm.
      Thanks macz.

But what about performance? Doesn't it take a few fps off? A vine here and there probably wouldn't, but if you make grass this way? Also, the grass won't sway (not that I care personally - I disabled this thing and saved a few noticeable frames), unless you have something up your sleeve...

no fps loss, grass will still sway because the shadows are part of the grass texture. I have tried it, it works but I am not satisfied with it yet.

Would be really neat to do this with RGMage2's Anvil Morning Glories (a mod i adore) http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/19039/?
It makes a great backdrop for screenies
EDIT: I just discovered that Khettienna has expanded RGM's mod to cover 3 additional cities. Glorious
