Can you please share how the no-star skies are done? I'm looking to make the stars a little bit dimmer overall, they are a bit too intense in VR. I've looked through NIGHTSKYCOLOURS.exml but I don't know how to find the index of the sky I'm currently in for testing :(
The more opaque (higher alpha) value a color has, the more you won't be able to see through it. If a palette has a more opaque color for the sky, it will block the stars from shining through as much. Also, if you are referring to a black sky, those are on dead planets only because dead planetshave special conditions for weather and colors.
Thanks! I'm now fiddling with opacity for SkyColour and SkyUpperColour, and I can make stars invisible by setting it to 0.999 like on dead biomes, but there's hardly any effect for opacities like 0.8, to the point I can't tell if it's doing anything or not. Perhaps it's just very non linear, and I'd need 0.95 or something, I'll keep trying.
The issue is that there's this faded but clearly visible rectangle over the brightest stars, and it only shows up in VR, something to do with exposure? or just handling brightness differently, who knows.
You will not solve that by reducing brightness. That "square" or "rectangle" is a product of VR shaders, VR drivers, or VR hardware. It doesn't happen in flat screen. There is nothing modders can do about it. Unfortunately, I think the best you can do is reporting it to HG.
Hi. I use BPG and I wanted to use your mod also, as recommended. The issue is that every time I activate it, space becomes colored wherever I travel. I tried to delete the spacecolors pak but still the same problem. Is there something I do wrong? Thanks for your help.
Space is "colored wherever you go" in vanilla/default NMS. My space colors mod has some black space and some colored space. I don't know what you mean by "activate", but if you are using Vortex, try installing mods manually instead.
There are all sorts of tiers of great mods out there and this is in the "Should be included with the game" level of mod. An excellent and must-have group of mods.
Hello. I just downloaded and installed this mod with the vortex installer and the game now crashes to desktop and says theres an error. I haven't downloaded or installed any other mods for it, and I uninstalled the mod but it still says theres a modded save and crashes to desktop. How do I fix this without uninstalling and reinstalling the game? I have hundreds of hours worth of time invested in this and I'm really upset!
My mods will not affect a save. Me and a lot of other players are using these mods right now without issue. You can install/remove mods and will never change your NMS install. Despite what the crash warning screen says, it's just a general crash screen, not a mod crash screen. You could be crashing because of many issues. Vortex is known to cause issues with NMS. Install mods manually. Make sure you are using NMS v4.52 (which these mods are compatible with) "but it still says theres a modded save" - NMS will never tell you this, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.
Better Planet Generation with Dud's Sky Colors led to this incredibly unique, disconcerting planet. It reminds me of the Realm of Torment from Guild Wars 1. Really, really good presentation here. Thank you @WoodyMontana and @jasondude7116
Very satisifed with results so far, but newest version for some reason deletes night, theres is always evening like light through all night until dawn, checked rest of my mods, all off, all on, this on with this off and it's still only with COLORS on.
I'm sorry about that. I've had a bad couple of months IRL. I accidentally left a "testing rig" in MOD_DUD_Skies_v452-A that causes no night to happen. This has been updated to MOD_DUD_Skies_v452-B with the testing rig removed. Everything should be working as intended now.

Nice to know you're having fun with it/them.
Thank you for reporting this!
