Tired of that ugly warp effect that looks like the universe is puking through a straw onto your face? Me too. Have some WarpCandy.

WarpCandy is not just a tweak of the vanilla FX. That raisin was dried up.
This is a brand new bag of jellybeans. It rebuilds the hyperdrive warp effect from the ground up with some sweet new FX and visual enhancements.

WarpCandy comes in a variety of flavours to choose from. Pick your favourite or switch it up for a tasty treat.

Screenshots do not do the WarpCandy FX any justice.
Check out the videos section on the NexusMods page or watch on YouTube

New in Version 2.1:
Two new flavours: Tie Dye and Fuego
Fuego is entirely procedural. Never the same twice!

Features:
- a framework for easily adding new flavours
- a brand new high-res model re-designed for new and improved effects
- all new, higher-res textures for greater variety and less scrolling repition
- more texture layers for richer FX with better depth, parallax scrolling and other visual complexity

There are currently 6 flavours available:
- Alien Enema (Hitch a ride in the bowels of an inter-dimensional space whale)
- Dark (A classic, dark warp effect)
- Matrix (Hax your way through the NMS digital universe)
- Nebulon (Blast through the Orion nebula)
- Tie Dye (A red, green and blue tie dye warp effect)
- Fuego (Fully procedural! Always different.)

Other modders are welcome to use the assets to make your own WarpCandy FX that you can share however you like, with proper credit to Gaticus Hax.
Send me a link and I'll include it on the WarpCandy page at NexusMods.

INSTALLATION:

If you've never installed a mod before, be sure to:
- delete or rename GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\DISABLEMODS.TXT
- create the GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS\ directory
- put the pak files in GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS\

Each flavour comes with 1 ASSET PACK and 4 REPLACERS

The ASSET PACK MUST be installed for each flavour that you want to use.
You can install ASSET PACKs for as many flavours as you like and just leave them installed. You will use the REPLACERS to control what flavours are used in-game.

To configure which flavour is used for the different warp types, you may install ONE replacer of any flavour for each of the 4 warp types:
- HYPERDRIVE
- BLACKHOLE
- TELEPORT
- PORTAL

Eg. for Dark Blackhole, Nebulon Hyperdrive, Matrix Teleport and Alien Enema Portal
You must install the following paks:
- WarpCandy-v2.0 - ASSET PACK - Alien Enema.pak
- WarpCandy-v2.0 - ASSET PACK - Dark.pak
- WarpCandy-v2.0 - ASSET PACK - Matrix.pak
- WarpCandy-v2.0 - ASSET PACK - Nebulon.pak
- WarpCandy-v2.0 BLACKHOLE - Dark.pak
- WarpCandy-v2.0 HYPERDRIVE - Nebulon.pak
- WarpCandy-v2.0 TELEPORT - Matrix.pak
- WarpCandy-v2.0 PORTAL - Alien Enema.pak

Enjoy.

POSSIBLE CONFLICTS:
WarpCandy is designed to have a minimal footprint in the vanilla assets to minimize potential conflicts.

The following vanilla assets have been replaced:
MODELS\EFFECTS\WARP\WARPTUNNEL.SCENE.MBIN
MODELS\EFFECTS\WARP\WARPTUNNELBLACKHOLE.SCENE.MBIN
MODELS\EFFECTS\WARP\WARPPORTAL.SCENE.MBIN
MODELS\EFFECTS\WARP\WARPLARGEPORTAL.SCENE.MBIN
PIPELINES\PIPELINEDEFERRED.BIN

WarpCandy uses it's own custom shaders. Although there will be no file clashes, the WarpCandy shaders do rely on some of the vanilla shader code. It's possible that some shader mods may create issues but unlikely.

If you experience any problems with WarpCandy. First try disabling all other mods to verify that WarpCandy is working as expected. Then you can begin re-enabling mods to identify which one is causing a conflict. Usually, just renaming the conflicting files to reverse their load order will fix the problem.
