How does username protection work? I added a recovery email address and click on "Username Protection" to enable this feature. However, it is still shown as disabled. (Tried several times.) What am I missing?

I tried to swap bases to see how it is, but it bugs out. I tried different bases in case. And it's always the same no matter what. The bases get f*cked up. Like, the they are all layered. Each part is floating around the other, nothing is connected or together, it doesn't work at all.
I have no idea if anyone else has tried, or has that issue?

Sorry to hear that. This shouldn't be allowed on the NMS side of things though, it sounds like a game bug. Might be worth letting Hello Games know.

Sincerely i don t known what went wrong, but the fact is that my base has no furnitures anymore and someone has teleported to my base, so i was really sad that what i ve done was gone.
I have just written this comment to warn other players in some ways that giving everyone your base position will sometimes attract bad players to you.
Thanks for your respond anyway [email protected]

actually i think there is an option in the network tab to enable other players in your session to be able to edit base structures

Its an option in your mutliplayer option tab there you can say "harmful play" and if "everyone", "group & friends" or "no one" can build on your base and delete things. Just look into your options menu and the network tab there you find these options.

Unfortunately it's easy with a save game editor to change the owner of a base. Multiplayer security on NMS is non-existent.

So I updated my game and now it thinks I'm someone else? My profile says I'm Shonan21, that's not me.

Great tool and I have been using it for some time, well before Beyond. In Beyond, I now use it in VR with OVRDrop as a display I can pull up via VoiceAttack to check as needed while playing... fun stuff!
A few suggestions for future updates:
    1) Can the installer be updated to allow user choice where to install? I would prefer to install on a non-OS drive

This used to be present in the installer, but most people would install it in the system folder, which would require the app to run with administrator privileges. Feel free to open a feature request on the Github repo.

      @WindWpn
What are you using for a profile for Voice Attack? The only one I can find is that "eden" one, and as insanely cool as it looks, I am not sure I want to through more money at this game yet.

i have my own custom VA profile. Granted, it now requires update for Beyond and is not really as usable in VR other than controlling OVRDrop display of this tool, but given the fairly low set of controls in NMS, I recommend simply creating your own VA profile. Its pretty simple.

Is it possible to sync all or more locations from other users to make it fill faster?

I could increase the 60 locations per request limit, but the main bottleneck is the app's performance degrades too much around 15k-20k cached locations (currently 125k on the server), so it's more of a practical speed bump. You can download locations more quickly by using the search and sorting functionality - all results are cached. This way you are caching more relevant locations, or higher rated ones (quality over quantity). Performance is something I take seriously, and I'm always considering ways to improve how much data NMC can render while limiting the impact on system resources.

Started it up and no matter what I do it just says loading. The log says 404 errors and my name is stuck at Explorer, when i edit the settings to bruteforce it, it just sets it back when reopening :(

Edit/Update: Updated the install to 1.7.1 and it worked half way..it claims it can't find a save but showed the username of my only other friend who plays no mans sky. Obviously can't sync anything because of this

Can you open a Github issue and attach your NMC.log file? Thanks.

I just installed this program for the first time and when I start the app it gets stuck on "syncing discoveries...". I left it for over an hour and it still says syncing discoveries with an infinitely spinning circle thing.

I killed the process and restarted and let it sit again, this time it finished syncing discoveries after about 10 minutes and now everything works

This is a known issue discussed here: https://github.com/jaszhix/NoMansConnect/issues/114

The connection is probably timing out for users with a lot of discoveries, combined with the high server load currently. The fix in the next version will probably be making discovery synchronization an optional manual action instead of occurring automatically at startup.
