About this mod
Restores the Biome specific resources to plants and rocks that were changed in Waypoint
- Permissions and credits
Tired of coming across yet another planet where every rock yields di-hydrogen? Do you miss plucking Faecium from a beautiful flower? Do you prefer to blast forests away for your Star Bulb rather than find those groves that you can harvest without using violence? Do you miss blasting stalagmites and stalactites for Radon or Sulphurine?

I toiled and figured out how to mod No Man's Sky in the span of a week just to make this mod. I wasn't alone. cmkushner wrote the NMSMB toolset that I used to write the .cs script, Babscoole wrote the .lua script and both of those users provided helpful advice and put up with my lack of experience with modding. Gumsk and WinderTP also helped with advice and steering me in the right places.
This is my first mod, but how it was made was using NMSMB, and a very simple script that basically told the GLOBALS to flip "UseSecondaryBiomeSubstances" to "true".
literally a single flip of the switch. That's all that was to it. This is a very simple change so I don't see it affecting too much in gameplay, except that it may have some of the resource tweaks Hello Games did since Waypoint.
Now, in the process of flipping that switch, I also learned how to modify the secondary and primary resource tables. I'm going to work on something more elaborate to expand on different biomes' resources. It would be a much more complicated thing but the basic goal I had in mind was to make it how it was before Waypoint. That goal was met, in the simplest way possible, so what next is something that builds off of this. I'd love to add spice to the biomes so it's not just Cactus Flesh and Pyrite that might be found in rocks, but a higher chance for some other substances.
