About this mod
This is a gameplay mod that attempts to revamp progression so that travel beyond yellow star systems and other areas feels more earned and worthwhile.
- Permissions and credits
Crafting hyperdrive upgrades to reach new star systems is no longer as simple as mining a terrain deposit then moving on. This mod introduces new variations of storm crystals that now make journeying to extreme weather planets a necessity to advance your hyperdrive technology.
The effort to reach new areas now also comes with greater rewards*. Visiting different star systems type with your hyperdrive tech makes it possible to acquire bonus nanites from scan discoveries depending on the type of system. Also the various storm crystals can be combined with other items in a large refinery to produces inventory slot expansions or a large quantity of nanites.
*Bonus nanites from scanning is an optional addon since it's the most likely to break from new game updates
To makes things more challenging an optional addon is included for "hardcore" progression. For this addon it changes hazard protection tech so that they require various storm crystals to charge. Regular/Yellow crystals only charge a small amount while red and green crystals will fully charge but only for certain weather types. Blue crystals can charge any weather type by 50% and purple crystals can charge any type fully.
Additionally, for "hardcore" there are restrictions placed on summoning ships on planets, accessing portals, and accessing sentinel hives. Also the requirements for crafting ammunition is changed to use red storm crystals and grenade launcher fuel require green storm crystals.
Mod Changes
- Storm crystals now give variations based on star system color when collected (requires bonuses addon)
- All variations of storm crystals are craftable with the corresponding stellar metals
- Hyperdrive access upgrades now use new variations of storm crystals to construct

- Red Storm Crystal + Green Storm Crystal + Salvaged Tech = Exosuit Inventory Token
- Red Storm Crystal + Blue Storm Crystal + Exosuit Inventory Token = Multitool Inventory Token
- Green Storm Crystal + Blue Storm Crystal + Exosuit Inventory Token = Starship Inventory Token
- Blue Storm Crystal + Purple Storm Crystal + Salvaged Tech = 3000x Nanites

Hardcore Changes
- Hazard tech for specific weather can now only be charged with storm crystals
- Yellow Storm Crystals charge any hazard tech by 12.5%
- Red Storm Crystals charge heat and cold hazard tech by 100%
- Green Storm Crystals charge toxic and radiation hazard tech by 100%
- Blue Storm Crystals charge any hazard tech by 50%
- Purple Storm Crystals charge any hazard tech by 100%
- Ammunition requires 1x Red Storm Crystal to craft
- Grenade launcher fuel requires 1x Green Storm Crystal + 1x Metal Plating to craft
- Summoning ship on planets is no longer possible
- The first glyph of portals requires Quazite to charge
- Sentinel hives require Atlas Pass v3 to access
