Asteroids in NMS are very toonish and immersion-breaking. Most asteroid mods reduce the number of asteroids, but this mod considers gameplay and effects as well. Destroying asteroids now requires that you progress by having good ship modifications. It also is meant to make mining asteroids an actual activity.
You may feel a big drastic change, as you're probably used to the default asteroids that do not take any effort to destroy. Just keep that in mind.

Main Modifications
- Small Scarce Fields: Asteroids are now rare. No more pulse jumping through hundreds of fields, or leaving planet atmospheres with layers of asteroids. Finding an asteroid field is rare. Finding large asteroids is even rarer. Asteroids are also a bit smaller and spaced apart.
- Bigger Rewards: Since asteroids are rarer and smaller in number, they drop larger amounts of Tritium. They also drop larger amounts of Gold, Silver and Platinum to make them a better source of trade.
- Stronger and Tougher: Asteroids now take a hit and have larger health points. Phase beam and other weapon modifications are more important to be more efficient at mining.
- Dangerous and Hazardous: Be careful flying through asteroids. They can easily destroy your ship's shields and health. No longer do asteroids slightly dent your shields. Hitting just a couple can lead to death. Shield modifications are more important now.

Visual Changes
- Better Explosions: The visual effects for the explosions were meticulously tinkered with to make the explosions feel good and dynamic. The rock debris are smaller and stay around longer. They also do not spin at 9999 mph. The cloud fx was made bigger, and the red glowing sparks now begin bright yellow and fade into red to emulate heat cooling down.
- Shaking: Camera shaking was added when you destroy asteroids to further add to the feel.
- Rocket Launchers: Explosions were increased in size.

FAQ:
I can't destroy the asteroids:
They are purposefully strong so that you have to use phase beam, photon cannon or other ship weapon modifications to amp up your power. After a few modifications, you should be able to destroy an asteroid in a one hit.
Won't it be harder to gather Anomaly Detectors with less asteroids?
Anomaly Detectors are much more common now so you shouldn't have issues finding them in scarce fields of asteroids.
Is this mod incompatible with other asteroid mods?
It's not compatible with other asteroid mods since this mod edits the same MBIN files.
