About this mod

Stock NMS has 6 Skies. Stratos has 15,417 Skies, all of them assembled from well-tested palettes

What is this Mod?
This mod replaces the 6 stock sky color palettes with 15,417 new palettes I have designed. Frozen worlds are restricted to 441 "cold"-colored palettes. It also creates 1,728 possible night environments in place of the one possible navy-blue night environment found in the vanilla game. The mod also includes some secondary modifications to graphics:

- Significant reduction to Sun-glare washout
- A system to implement 1,728 custom nights with varying brightness, colors, and color intensities.
- Cloud Erasers can be optionally installed without risk of conflicts (and I personally recommend Cirrus Eraser)
- Removal of water's edge foam effects at night

Starting with Beta 9, GCENVIRONMENTGLOBALS.MBIN is no longer a part of the mod. This makes Stratos compatible with numerous other alternative mods as a result, especially mods which alter terrain resolution, cloud characteristics, etc.

- Beta 8+ Makes colorful / brighter nights somewhat more common, and pitch-dark nights somewhat less common

These 15,417 skies are all made from well-tested palettes. Every single "mono-color" sample sky was directly loaded in game by me on an individual basis and tuned as needed. From there, I made a ton of combinations of parts of those well-tested skies to create the full 15,417 possibilities. Nothing you see is just some randomly-generated, unchecked number. Even though I couldn't have tested every one of the possible combined skies, I have tested all of the
components of all of the skies.

NOTE: The versions called "Beta" 1 through 8 are all what you might call "First Generation" Stratos, and Beta9 is "Second Generation" Stratos.

The philosophy of the mod is to create extreme variety without sacrificing quality. Despite that, I made sure some of the possible colors are very intense, leaving plenty of opportunity to produce both tame-colored and wild-colored skies. It's entirely possible to find ugly combinations, but even the ugly combos won't be low-quality or untested.

Known Side-Effects
The flashlight/torch and exocraft headlights will not detect night and auto-toggle with this mod. The reasons are known and cannot be corrected within this mod.

However, leaving the exosuit torch on while entering an exocraft will put your suit's torchlight in front of the exocraft, similar to a headlight.

About Available Versions
I keep all of my uploaded files marked (on the Files page) with their packing date and version of the MBINCompiler I used to pack it. Any older mod that is no longer compatible with the current version of No Man's Sky will be demoted to the "Old Files" subsection, but will remain available for download. If I have missed one, please tell me.

This means that any mod files which are not hidden or demoted to the "Old Files" area can be expected to work.

MBINCompiler versions exactly match the version of No Man's Sky that was current when the MBINCompiler was made. In other words, MBINCompiler version = NMS version. This fact can be used to figure out which Legacy mods work with which Legacy versions of No Man's Sky.

Big thanks to any and all of you lovely people who offer donations! It is greatly appreciated, and will help me buy lunch while I'm busy being a broke college student! :D

And, of course, all of the other modders who make mods too! It is very common that I inspect the work of other modders to learn how things are done. RangerDulannRedmasWoodyMontanajasondudeGumskMjjstralmoddinaccount, Devilin Pixy, saa044, and others have all helped me learn how to mod effectively! Without the other people mentioned here and their mods and applications, I would not be able to make any mods at all!
