*Mod Version 2.0. Balance discussion is in the context of Jsawyer Mod and Normal difficulty*

Cellblock Psycho's  trademark Spooky House Survival-Horror mods are always a treat for a fan of the genre, and this latest iteration is no exception.

The Happy Place captures the same tasteful balance of Exploration, Combat, and Puzzle-Solving as your classic Resident Evils, with the supernatural overtones of Alone In The Dark (I assume. I only have hazy memories of playing AITD: The New Nightmare when I was like 5.)

Even better, it doesn't fall prey to the inaccurate stereotypes of the genre: Weaponry and ammunition isn't exactly *rare* but you do have to keep your eyes open for it. Enemies are dangerous, but they're manageable with the right weapon. The key to surviving in the mansion is about your Judgement, not because the game is being unreasonably stingy with supplies, which is something I think many fans of the Survival-Horror genre themselves don't always understand.

On the puzzle side of things, there are only two significant Riddles throughout the roughly 3 hour experience. The clues are just vague enough to make you wonder what the hell they're talking about while still managing to lead you to a satisfying "A-ha!" moment once they start to click.

The mod has some minor presentation issues: Typos, Clipping Textures, misaligned tilesets, and some questionable audio balancing, but nothing to detract from the overall experience.

I did encounter one significant bug:

Spoiler:
Show
The hole that you fall through to officially kick the mod off does not teleport you to basement if you fall through it after finishing the main quest. The result is you get stuck in a false basement with no option other than to No-Clip back through the ceiling.

The mod doesn't exactly have any enticing rewards, so it's maybe not a great addition for a *playthrough*, but as a self-contained experience, it's a great time.
