Introduction

Back in 2011, TheCalculator uploaded a mod that changed the tutorial sequence with Doc Mitchell to have the player wear a Patient Gown instead of being naked. It's a great addition - it's logical for the player to be wearing a patient outfit given the surgeries they went through rather than being in their undies, and it's also likely a necessity for people who play with body replacer mods that don't have the undies in first place (which would evoke rather disturbing implications of what happened during the surgery!).

Thing is, it takes up an ESP slot, and as someone obsessed with absorbing lots of mods, I wanted to figure out how to recreate the process through a scriptrunner to free up an additional slot - and also to avoid potential incompatibilities with other mods that modify Doc Mitchell. So, with a lot of headaches and pestering people more talented than I, I managed to create a lightweight scriptrunner that replicates what the original mod did.

Changes

The scriptrunner automatically gives the player a Patient Gown and auto-equips it when Doc Mitchell says "Huh, you're awake. How about that." Later when the quest is finished, the Patient Gown is automatically removed from the player when his "And put this on too so the locals don't pick on you for lacking modesty" dialogue line is activated. The tutorial quest itself was not modified in any way, nor was the character creation process.

This does mean that there is a slight delay to the player actually getting the Patient Gown, and they will see the notification pop up as they get up from their bed, but it's a small enough delay that I don't think it's much of an issue. And obviously, it's not going to mess up the game's balance because there's no way to keep the gown after the tutorial, as it's impossible to kill Doc Mitchell before finishing it. (And why would you??)

I'm also bundling an optional addition that gives you the B42 Wristwatch after you finish the tutorial, which I created because I don't want to steal Mitchell's. It obviously requires Xilandro's B42 Wristwatch to work.

Credits

Many thanks to Sweet6Shooter, FinalCatalyst and PlatinumShadow for helping me figure out how the heck a scriptrunner works.

And also, obviously, many thanks to TheCalculator for having created the original mod in first place.
