What?
I don't know how Obsidian managed to do this, but they added a feature that's completely broken (I'm not surprised by now, just to be clear).
To put it simply: They added time of day sounds to acoustic spaces. On its own, it's a great addition - issue lies in the fact that it's barely functional. Acoustic spaces can be connected to regions - regions that due to few oversights, never update correctly.

What does this mean for the player?
Take a look (or rather, listen):

Yup! The audio never changes correctly - you can travel across the whole Mojave and never receive appropriate sounds. Really great. To make things even funnier, sounds can disappear completely, randomly when loading a save. Quiet day in the Wasteland, I guess.

After some fighting with the code, I present to you what Obsidian originally intended:

Bonus
Since version 1.3, mod also includes a fix for audio marker selection (thanks to karut). Game now properly picks the closest audio marker.
(And yes, this is also Obsidian's code. How odd...)

The Caveat
This feature (maybe because they knew it's broken), is not really used much for exteriors. Mojave itself has a bunch of acoustic spaces, but when you look closer, most of them are just duplicates with different names - meaning that they don't offer new sounds.

Only Jacobstown and Boulder City have different sounds, rest is just the same desert one over and over (gets tiring tbh).
Similar thing with DLCs - I only found one case in one of worldspaces in Lonesome Road - a tiny cave area has a different acoustic space, but it's genuinely so minor, that it may as well not be there.

Should you install this mod then? Fix is a fix, no harm in having it - especially since it fixes the save loading issue (no one wants to hear Freeside noise in the middle of the Wasteland).
Of course, with this feature fixed, it also opens new possibilities for mods.

Credits
Damn it Karut, you are getting credited this time (for the audio marker fix).
