Contest is now over. The winner is Kepii. Congrats!
Thanks all contestants for playing!

Description:

Ready Courier One(RCO) is an online contest for Fallout:New Vegas geeks where anyone can win the prize. Your knowledge of Fallout:New Vegas Lore will be tested with 26 riddles, answers for which you will find in the game. You got the right answer? You go to the next riddle. You didn't? Try again!

The Prize:
The prize for the winner - any 3 game keys from Nexus Donation Points store (kindly provided by NexusMods).

How do I play?
Easy!
First riddle you'll see is this one:

Always broken, always Silent
But if repaired
would gain you Goodsprings fame
What is it?

When you find the answer - place it in your crosshair, press "N" button by default and send it as answer. Get the next question. Repeat until you win.

Answer can be anything - NPC, static object and others. It can be either in the base game or in any of official DLCs(Except for Honest Hearts). There can also be multiple answers for some questions(but you will have to find only one of them).
Work alone, work in a team, share your answers with the others or not is only for you to decide.
If you didn't guess correctly - send another answer after a small timeout.

Stages:
Ready Courier One will have 3 stages:

  • 1st  - January 15th - January 20th. Answer a first set of riddles and get your bearings of how the contest works.
  • 2nd - January 21st(January 20th 21:00 UTC) - January 26th. Second set of more difficult riddles becomes available.
  • 3rd  - January 27th(13:00 UTC) - Until it's done. Third set of the most difficult riddles becomes available. The one who answers them first gets to win the prize.

Before doing below please make sure:
1)That you have installed the package
2)ReadyCourierOne.dll is located in Data\nvse\plugins folder.
3)ReadyCourierOne.esp is located in Data\ folder and enabled in load order of your mod manager.
4)All requirements are installed(xNVSE, SUP NVSE, JIP LN)
5)You are launching the game via NVSE loader (nvse_loader.exe).

Then:
Launch the game at least once, ReadyCourierOne.ini will be created in

Then Launch the game and follow #4. Remove Nexus API key from the INI file if needed.

FAQ

-Why?
-I always wanted to make mods which added multiplayer content to Fallout:NV to bring people together. The idea of this mod came to me back in 2018 but I didn't have the knowledge to implement it properly.

-How do I win?
-You win by being the first one who answers the final question of the contest and posting the code phrase on the comment page of this mod. Code phrase will be available for you in RCO menu after you've answered the last questions of the contest.

-How do I change "N" hotkey?
-After launching the game at least once with RCO go to Data\nvse\plugins\ReadyCourierOne.ini(or MO2 Overwrite folder overwrite\nvse\plugins \ReadyCourierOne.ini) and change Hotkey value from 49 to any of these keys in the list.

-Does this require internet connection?
-It does on game launch, when you send answers or access Leaderboards.

-Is it compatible with Building Bridges (Asynchronous Multiplayer)?
-Yes, two mods can be used simultaneously. If you're doing a fresh install of BB you will see 2 pop ups on game launch.

-Are there incompatibilities?
-There may be depending on which modifications you use.
You send only reference ID of the object you're currently looking as the answer. Thus:
-If this is a model\texture\NPC stats replacers then they should work fine with RCO unless they remove collision from the object so you cannot select it in crosshair.
-Gameplay mods should work fine as well, DLL engine fixes too.
-However Major overhauls which change the position of interior items, add, delete or replace objects or NPCs might be incompatible - it's advised to switch them off to avoid any setbacks. The only mod which I know does it for sure is DUST but there may be more.
RCO was tested on purely vanilla game and is only guaranteed to work with it.

-Where can I find a compilible source of the DLL plugin?
-The compilible source code is located here. Compiled with Visual Studio 2022 Version 17.8.3 (v143).

-Why do I need to type in my Nexus API key?
-Nexus API key is used only to receive your RCO key. It is not stored on the server, not on your PC.All later authentications are done via RCO key.

-Why choose Nexus API key as means to authentication?
-Because otherwise to play the mod you would have to register on my site, provide your email and set a password. Nexus API allows you and me to have less headache.

-What if I lost my API key?
-Remove ReadyCourierOne.ini  and you will see a pop up box again and will be able to get another API key after that. Just be aware that there's a timeout before you can receive another API key so it's better not to lose it very often.

-What information is stored on the server?
-I only store your Nexus ID(it's visible on your Nexus profile page).

-Does it cause save bloat?
-Absolutely not.

-Is the progress tied to my savegames?
-No, you can switch between savegames\playthroughs if needed.

-Does load order matter?
-Not at all.

-Can you do a leaderboard which would contain the nicknames?
-I could but I think that would bring unwanted attention to the leading players. Thus I decided to make a leaderboard table which shows how many players are currently at what level. This table is updated every 10 minutes so don't panic if your level up didn't made it there just yet.

-Could the leaderboard be a little neater?
-Sadly no.

-Sometimes it takes too long to connect to server or I'm getting a connection error.
-This can seldom happen because server is currently overloaded with requests from other players. At this case you should try again in a bit.

-I cannot connect to the server at all!
-Some countries might have difficulty connecting to the server(nothing I can do from my side). Sometimes even I myself cannot connect to it without VPN. In this case you should try using a VPN.

-Can I make a translation for the ESP?
-There's no point translating the ESP as the questions for the contest are only available in English.

-Why make this an online event? Couldn't you just made this a DLL?
-One could easily retrieve answers from a DLL. By storing riddles\answers on the server I make sure that everyone has an equal chance to win.

-Why there are no riddles for Honest Hearts DLC?
-I tried but could not find anything unique or interesting in it to make a riddle for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
