Owning a player home can be a very personal experience, and I personally like to decorate mine with items - a teddy bear on the bed, a hat on the table, etc etc. However, this can lead to some problems. Sometimes when I want to sleep I might accidentally pick up the teddy, ruining all the work I did to place it in the correct position.

This Scriptrunner mod allows you to toggle an object as "decorative", which essentially prevents you from picking it up or dragging it.

Simply look at an object and press the "L" key (configurable in the ini file) to toggle activation for that object.

Please note that it does not disable physics for objects by default (enable in the ini file), so if you want to preserve object positioning, try not to bump them while moving something else. New Vegas doesn't have a reliable way to "freeze" the physics for an object, so it's inherently prone to breaking with highly-complex objects (such as teddy bears, which are blacklisted as a result). As a result, this feature is disabled by default. It should work pretty well for the most part, but there is an inherent risk of some issues, mostly minor. If any objects outright break while using this, let me know and I will blacklist them for future versions. (EDIT: A new function has been added in the latest version of JIP LN, this is now possible to do reliably. I already have a new version ready to go, and will upload it once the new version of JIP is released).

This mod does not add any new decorations or assets.

When uninstalling during a playthrough, please set uninstall=1 in the ini file to remove all data (and prevent save bloating), then load the game. Once you see the confirmation message, you're free to remove the mod. This technically isn't necessary but will reduce the size of your save game when uninstalling.
