A simple scripted mod that makes it so that equipping or optionally drawing a weapon in restricted areas is a hostile action.

It always seemed odd to me that in both Casinos & The Fort, they go to all the bother of disarming the player upon entry - but seem totally fine to let you openly carry and draw any holdout weapons you snuck in. Even if you stumble upon a weapon inside, there are no consequences for swinging it about or blasting some rounds into the nearest slot machine in frustration.

This trivialises many quests and encounters in Casinos, for example; dealing with Benny.

This mod seeks to solve this by making it so that it's now an illegal action to (depending on player choice) to openly carry weaponry or draw weapons in these areas.

In the vanilla game, the following areas are covered by this mod - The Ultra-Luxe, The Tops Casino, Gomorrah & The Fort.

When the player enters a restricted area:

1) They are disarmed (Weaponry is unequipped but still in inventory) before negotiation with the greeter begins.
2) Once negotiation concludes, NPCs within the area are evaluating for either open-carried weapons or drawn weapons depending on player preference.
3) If an NPC spots you in breach of the rules, combat is initiated
4) When the player leaves a restricted area, their weapons are returned and an optional message confirms it's safe to use weapons again.

First, install the latest version of NVSE (xNVSE preferred) & the JIP LN Plugin. Next, simply Install and Uninstall using a mod manager of your choice, alternatively add or remove Better Weapon Restrictions.esp from the data folder as required. There are no particular load-order requirements for using this mod.

Navigate to the mod installation directory and edit Holdout.ini with a text editor of your choice to configure the mod of operations.

bHoldoutMode

Setting bHoldoutMode to 1 (Default) means the trigger for hostilities is simply open carry/equipping of a weapon.
Setting bHoldoutMode to 2 means the trigger for hostilities is physically drawing a weapon.

bDisableMessageBox

Setting bDisableMessageBox to 0 (Default) enables message box feedback that indicates when a player may or may not open carry/draw weaponry.
Setting bDisableMessageBox to 1 disables message box feedback.

Once installed and you have configured the .ini to your liking, simply try it out at your favourite establishment and see what happens.
