About this mod

This is a mod which adds custom nif-bashed models for the debug weapons in Fallout New Vegas. These include the Faderator, the Disintegrator, and the Debug Mega Pistol.

So I was playing around with the fantastic New Vegas Randomizer, and I stumbled across a gun called the Faderator while looting an innocuous filing cabinet in the Divide. I had never heard of this gun before, which is odd considering I've been playing this game for nearly a decade. It was also shockingly powerful. The strongest gun I've encountered in this game by a landslide. Game-breakingly powerful. After a bit of digging, I learned that the Faderator is one of 3 debug weapons. All these debug weapons were pretty rudimentary, consisting of basic retoolings of default weapons. No unique models, no unique textures- nothing. Just normal guns adjusted to have absurd stats. I figured somebody ought to spruce them up a bit.

That's where this mod comes in.

All DLCs are required.

Because of the nature of these weapons, being absurdly powerful debug weapons, they aren't placed in the game world by default. They must be spawned in via console commands. To spawn any gun simply hit ` in game, and then type <search "(Weapon_Name)">. Then find the weapon's name in the list, and type <player.additem (Weapon_ID)>. Simple as that. Otherwise, I've included the weapon ID's below for easy access.

If you'd prefer to get your hands on them more easily, download the optional file that places them in Goodsprings.

The Disintegrator
WeapLaserRifleAlwaysCrits / 000F82AA

This first gun is The Disintegrator, a laser rifle that always crits- guaranteeing a pile of ash for every enemy killed. This model was assembled using the body of the Laser RCW, the sights of the Automatic Rifle, the stock and grip of the Q-35 Matter Modulator, and the wooden pump from the Hunting Shotgun. Additionally I also swapped the Electron Charge Pack for a Microfusion Cell. You might notice retexturing on the sight, body, and stock- meant to give it a more cohesive look. I went with the RCW model because I thought it had a particularly powerful appearance, what with its large drum. I figured the drum also helped explain the absurd ammo capacity of the weapon, at 255 rounds per reload. This one is a lot of fun to use because of the ash piles left behind with each kill. I highly recommend giving the Disintegrator a shot.

The Faderator
WeapNVDLC01Faderator / 01000800 - WeapNVDLC02Faderator / 02000800 - WeapNVDLC03Faderator / 03000800
WeapNVDLC04Faderator / 04000800 - WeapNVDLC05Faderator / 05000800

This second gun is unique in that it's present in the game files 5 seperate times, once for each DLC. I renamed each one by the name of the DLC it's from, but there is no functional or aesthetic difference between the different Faderators. They're all identical. (Something I might change in the future, who knows.) This gun is assembled from a mix of energy weapon components, including the barrel from the YCS/186, the body and tip of the LAER, the scope of the Holorifle (which is fully functional), and the stock of the AER14 Prototype. This was my first design, and the one I think I'm proudest of. I wanted it to look scrapped together and experimental, like a prototype from Big Mt. I altered the firing as well so that it shoots LAER beams to match its updated design. This is the most powerful of the 3 guns by far, dealing out an absurd 20160 damage per second. Use with caution.

The Debug Mega Pistol
WeapNVDebugMegaPistol / 001465a6

The final gun I've assembled a new model for is the Debug Mega Pistol. This is the only ballistic weapon of the debug weapons. This model was a fairly straightforward assembly, just swapping out the generic 9mm Pistol base game model to the 12.7mm Pistol model. I then added the laser sight from the 10mm Pistol to give it a unique silhouette. I retextured this one too, darkening it to give it a sleeker look. I also re-chambered it with 9mm rounds, to match what it fires. So its shell casings, projectiles, and even the magazine model all reflect the changed ammo type. I picked the 12.7mm Pistol as the base for this one because of its unique look, and the implied power of its design. This gun doesn't have any special quirks like the rapid speed of The Faderator or the disintegrations of The Disintegrator. It's simply a pistol that oneshots everything in the game. What more could you ask for?

Huge thanks to MCTammer for his incredible tutorials, which made this mod possible. His efforts to educate new modders on the ins and outs of blender and nifskope are unparalleled. His YouTube channel can be found here.

This is my first ever mod! I will do what I can to help out with any issues you might encounter, but I'm still an amateur to modding, so my knowledge is spotty.

I haven't tested it, but the Faderator uses base game textures and would likely be compatible with any texture replacer you use. The Debug Mega Pistol and Disintegrator have their own textures though, and would likely not be affected by texture packs.

These models are not designed with custom animations in mind, and I cannot promise they will work with whatever animation mods you are using. Keep that in mind if you decided to download.

All assets used are from Fallout New Vegas and its associated DLCs. New Textures were created myself by altering pre-existing textures. All credit for these assets goes to Obsidian and Bethesda.
