>I suggest using a mod like the amazing CFEE - Companion Overhaul Mod which (not only improves Lonesome Road ED-E but) allows him to leave the DLC Area.

As Implied Above, This Mod Is For And Only Affects Lonesome Road ED-E!  The ED-E Found Within The Mojave Outpost Will NOT Be Affected In Any Way!

At the moment this mod only contains 3 things, technically 4 if you use the CFEE Compatible download of this mod...
1: Gives ED-E the Hat and Tie from The Mysterious Stranger's Snazzy Outfit, for now this applies to his model automatically once the mod is downloaded.
2: Changes ED-E's name to that of his alter-ego "The Peculia[R]obot"! One of my ideas is to make a dialogue option to choose his name at the end of the planned quest, then the option to change between one of several names for people who might prefer his original or another name after said planned quest is completed.
3: Replaces his usual Combat Start "Dialogue" Jingle, as well his unused (as far as I could tell) Combat End "Dialogue" Jingle, with The Mysterious Magnum's Unholster and Holster Jingle. I chose The Magnum's Jingle over The Stranger's Jingle simply because I liked how the Holster Sound (which is present in the Jingle itself) sounded like a recording starting, I may change this in the future or later make it an option to change ingame if possible.
4: This change is in the CFEE Compatible download, only internal, and shouldn't* do anything if you don't have CFEE installed as it only points to 3-4 packages/changes within CFEE but this mod does Not contain those files/changes without CFEE being installed.
*Just to be safe if you don't plan on downloading CFEE then just use the Standalone Download, there are no other differences between the the two downloads of this mod.

This description and everything else about the mod is very WIP so it is likely to change overtime, I just wanted to get the basics out there for anyone who wanted a simple change to a preexisting lovable companion, as well have a place for anyone who was interested in sharing ideas for the larger potential of this mod.

Installation:

- Download your desired version of this mod via the "mod manager download" button.
- Install and confirm it is active in the Load Order.
Manual
- Download your desired version of this mod via the "manual download" button.
- Open the provided "Data" folder.
- Place the provided "EDmE.esp" file inside your game's "Data" folder.
- Place the provided "Meshes" folder inside your game's "Data" folder.
- Place the provided "Sound" folder inside your game's "Data" folder.
