I made a few Stewie Tweak suggestions on top of the Stewie Essentials INI as part of my currently unreleased NV Rebuilt guide. However, one evening I decided to read through every single Stewie option. That list became much, much longer. I decided to convert my many suggestions into a standalone INI mod for that reason. It can be installed alongside the Essentials INI then the relevant settings will be automatically overridden.

The key options enabled are:

  • Compass Fade Left Side, Compass Location DistanceBased Alpha, Compass NPC Distance Based Alpha, Hide Enemies on Compass with 'Show firing enemies' ticked and No Compass Pips If Not in Danger - adds a nice fade to both sides of the Compass with Skyrim-inspired behavior so the icons for locations and enemies change opacity depending on how close they are to you. Also hides NPC icons unless they’re shooting at you for added immersion.
  • Hide HUD key - C hides the Compass as with my UI setup I like making only the compass visible in exteriors but hidden for interiors. It is otherwise marked as Always On via Immersive HUD. Adjust manually as you wish.
  • Open Map Hotkey - set to M. Local map shows for interiors. Adjust key manually as you wish.
  • Radio Skip Song Hotkey - Set to [. Adjust key manually as you wish.
  • Fallout 76 Encumbrance - when you're over-encumbered your Action Points will be used for some movement until you run out. You still won't be able to sprint until you drop some items
  • Cookable Grenades - you can now hold down the fire button to cook a grenade like you can in more modern shooters
  • Hold and Release Throwables - lets you hold and release thrown weapons like a grenade as you logically should be allowed to do that
  • Locational Melee Damage - adds limb targeting damage for melee weapons same way you can target limbs with aimed weapons
  • Ammo Burst Case Count Fix - gives a chance to earn multiple Ammo casings for weapons that use more than 1 Ammo per shot i.e. Tri-Beam laser rifle
  • No Lock Encounter Zone Levels - dungeon level difficulty will scale on revisiting rather than be capped to the level you first visited the location
  • No Scale NPC Damage Resistance By Condition and NoScale NPC Damage Threshold By Condition - difficulty tweak making it so when you attack enemies it calculates your damage as if they're wearing brand spanking new armor. There's a similar option for their weapon damage. Use or don't as you like.
  • No Skill Tags - some dialogue options are a skill check giving you alternative solutions if you have a high enough relevant skill. By default it specifies which skill is tested and how many points you need, allowing you to easily jump back a save and boost that stat via levelling up or temporarily with drugs or magazines. Turning this tweak on covers the skill check label and skill value you need which improves immersion since dialogue doesn’t explicitly say when your skills are checked, but the lines are written in such a way that they imply a skill may be used. The skill check text changes if you have enough points or not, so by reading carefully you can infer which dialogue is a skill check. By default I've made it show the Skill only and no skill number value so skill checks are a bit more explicit for first time players, but you can cover it entirely for maximum immersion via changing the option in the ‘Tweaks’ menu.
  • HUD Shows Location Names - shows the name of your current location briefly in the bottom left.
  • Revive Unconscious Companions - use Stimpacks to revive unconscious companions
  • Instant Continue Button - skips the 'continue from your last saved game?' prompt when clicking Continue
  • Level Up Scroll Wheel Support - scroll to increase/decrease skills on level up
  • No Exit Game Confirmation
  • Pause Holotapes - click on a holotape to pause it, double click to unpause
  • Save Character Selector - adds a very useful filter to 'Load' letting you easily browse saves per character rather than one massive overall saves list.
  • Skip Load Save Confirmation Prompt

The 60-ish tweaks are fully documented in the optional Tweaks List file.

This mod is included in the NV Rebuilt [4/10] - Gameplay HD Collection as part of my forthcoming New Vegas Rebuilt guide.
