About this mod

A long overdue kNVSE animation set for the Missile Launcher. Supports vanilla New Vegas and TTW.

I wouldn't exactly call these animations clean, but they are much, much better than vanilla's animations.

FNV CLEAN ANIMATIONS | MISSILE LAUNCHER

FEATURES
  • Covers all animations related to the Missile Launcher.
  • Supports TTW.
  • Includes downloadable .blend files so you can edit the animations yourself, if you have the know-how.
  • Gameplay friendly .
  • A lazy, half-hour recreation of the vanilla jam. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    • To be clear: it is scratch-made. It's also just lazy.
  • Includes full locomotion set, featuring my custom locomotion.
    • In the normal "Blended" file I like to include, Hitman's jumps were cancelling any directional locomotion. For whatever reason, my locomotion doesn't do this. As such, I've omitted the "Blended" file from this mod--although you can still download the "No Locomotion" file and uses Hitman's locomotion, obviously.
  • Includes optional file without locomotion.

RECOMMENDED MODS

COMPATIBILITY
  • Out-of-the-box compatibility with any mod that does not specifically use kNVSE to edit the Missile Launcher.
  • Does not overwrite vanilla animations, allowing you to safely switch back.
  • No plugin. Safe to install/uninstall mid-game.

SUPPORT
  • If you enjoy this mod in any capacity, please do consider endorsing it.

  • If you wish to support me and my animating habits further, donations or Patreon support are very helpful. My job is contract-based, and I will be absent work in the summer; any additional income not only helps me get by, but allows me to justify  more time animating. Small, one-time donations are especially helpful.

DESCRIPTION
Well, here it is. They're anything but clean, to be honest--making these was pretty challenging. The vanilla mesh is--to put it lightly--awful at a technical level (at least to my layman's eyes), and working with the vanilla skeleton/rig with this provided its own set of challenges. The short version is: don't try and use a sprinting mod and reloading with this gun at the same time. It will not look pretty (still definitely using a sprinting mod, though). The equips/unequips are also a lot choppier than they should be; I'll fix those, at least, in an update, but I just want to be done with this thing for right now.

All of that said, I think I've accomplished making the gun feel significantly weightier. In some ways, it's basically a straight recreation of my original version of this animation, although this wasn't intentional. I really wanted to emphasize your character shoving that missile in, because that, in my mind, is what should be the most satisfying part of the animation. Unfortunately, the sounds don't quite hold up, but I'm no sound engineer--chopping up vanilla sounds is about the extent of my skills. If you're reading this, and you come up with some better sounds and would like to share them, DM me.

One final note: I wanted to include a standard "Blended" locomotion set, like normal, but for whatever reason, Hitman's jumping animations make you stop dead when you try and jump in any direction when combined with these launcher files (not in any other animations, apparently). I have no idea why this is. For whatever reason, my jumping animations work fine, except for the right and left ones, which also stop dead. Still, 2/4 is better than 0/4, so I omitted the "Blended" locomotion set.

While I'd normally recommend using Hitman's locomotion over my own, as it's better in basically every context, I'd highly suggest rolling with mine this time around. The locomotion is more subdued, which makes wielding this thing feel less overwhelming, and you still get a nice sense of weight as the back end sways considerably, while the barrel is stabilized. My locomotion is also--for whatever reason--technically more functional with this set. So, even if you prefer Hitman's locomotion (understandably so, as I do myself), I'd recommend rolling with mine.

But it's your call. A "No Locomotion" file is provided, as normal.
