What This Does

This mod edits the intro video to make it shorter and less info-dumping, for both new players who don't want too much faction hand-holding and old players looking for a more streamlined beginning. The intro vid now starts off with the scene of Benny aiming his gun, transitions to Victor digging you out (using teaser trailer footage), and then the title drops in a hard cut, after which Ron Perlman says a few classic words and gives you a much shorter explanation of the setting before you wake up in Goodsprings. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. You can find the complete video in the video tab if you'd like to preview what it looks like.

In case you're curious, here's the edited narration script:

War. War never changes.

When atomic fire consumed the earth, those who survived did so in great, underground vaults. When they opened, their inhabitants set out across ruins of the old world to build new societies, establish new villages, forming tribes.

As decades passed, what had been the American southwest united beneath the flag of the New California Republic, dedicated to old-world values of democracy and the rule of law.

As the Republic grew, so did its needs.

You are a courier, hired by the Mojave Express, to deliver a package to the New Vegas Strip.

What seemed like a simple delivery job has taken a turn... for the worse.

This is incompatible with any other mod that changes the FNVIntro.bik file.

Q: Can you do it differently and/or make a version where you're not the Courier?
A: This mod is made specifically for Courier players, but New Vegas Intro Reshot by AshenBonfire has a non-Courier edit of the intro and a lotta other versions too. That one was actually the main inspiration for this!

Q: How in the goddamn did you make this?
A: Short answer? Audio and video editing software, an idea in my head, and like two days of tinkering.

Q: Can I use this in a Wabbajack list or Nexus collection?
A: Yep, it's here for y'all to enjoy. Go nuts.

Q: Where'd you get that clip of Victor digging the Courier out of the grave?
A: The internet. :P It was a teaser from back before the game was released, I believe.

Q: Did you change the music in the 'war never changes' part?
A: Yes, because a clean version of that specific original track doesn't actually exist. Instead, I used part of the End Credits music, to sorta bookend the experience.
