OVERVIEW
This one was very tough to make. I started with the idea of using the battle rifle's reload to eject the mfc as a base, then built the weapon around that. It was very restrictive however, and adding a scope or iron sights that didn't clip was very hard.
At first, I envisioned it as a plasma weapon, but settled for laser because it looked better and lacked the little bulbs that are characteristic of plasma weapons. The model was done for a while, but there were a lot of parts that at the time I didn't know how to group together (which is why the nif is full of seemingly random nodes) which made the prospect of setting up 1st person textures demoralising.
The burst idea came from my friend who playtested and gave feedback along the way, and I think it was a good way of making this a truly unique laser weapon.
Atlas is an acronym by the way, A.utomatic T.riple L.aser A.ssault S.niper. It's not the best, but I thought it gave it a cool name.
Parts used: Incinerator, LAER, Tri-beam Laser Rifle, Laser Rifle Scope, Grenade Machine Gun, Gatling Laser
FEATURES
- Around the same damage per beam as the laser rifle, and because the burst is scripted, the crit damage isn't distributed between the projectiles like with the tri-beam, so this weapon will deal a lot of damage with good criticals.
- Weighs 16 units, and has around the same durability as the LAER, but will degrade 3 times as fast since it fires 3 times per shot, so prepare those repair kits!
- Two weapon mods, one that decreases weight by 25% and one that increases durability by 50%.
- Wasteland integration, it can be found for sale at the Gun Runners, at the Van Graffs, basically anywhere that sells tier 4 energy weapons like the tri-beam or the gauss rifle. It can also be found on brotherhood paladins and Y-17 Trauma Harnesses.
ISSUES
The burst will not shoot an accurate amount of times in VATS because it will sometimes count the burst shots as entries, so if you pick 4 shots it might only shoot 2 bursts.
The burst will also sometimes cut off during killcams, so if you kill an enemy with two shots from a burst and enter the killcam it might not fire the third shot.
COMPATIBILITY
Should be compatible with everything.
INSTALL/UNINSTALL
To do it manually, add BurstAtlas.esp into the Data folder and add the assets in their respective folders. Remove the files to uninstall.
Alternatively, you can use a mod manager.
