By popular demand, the latest update adds an INI file (located in config\BURN.ini) so users can customize how the effect works according to their preferences based on the most common requests I've seen.
In the ini, you can set:
whether the effect is enabled for the Player
whether the effect is enabled for Abominations like Deathclaws
whether the effect is enabled for actors wearing Power Armor (checks the AllPowerArmor formlist)
how much Fire Resistance actors need to become immune to the panic effect (default is 30)
I tried using this for a while but it breaks the difficulty of the game to an absurd degree. Any fire weapon or ammo instantly causes panic with no sort of way to resist it other than the incredibly rare Fire Resist. Adding that in to armors manually is a pain that is not worth the effort. Besides, it only works for NPCs wearing armor, and not any creatures. If that wasn't enough, ED-E is considered to have a fire based weapon by this mod which means you have a flying automatic pilot light following you around from day 1 that consistently lights everything on fire.
Option to use water (any) to extinguish oneself? Maybe compat with Water Overhaul. Maybe I'm asking too much. But with all these maybes, I am glad of your making this lovely mod.
Could you make a patch to get the patting down animation to not play during the agonized animation used in Humanize-Brutalize? When I light them on fire, they get up, pat themselves down, and get back to laying down, and I'd have to light them on fire, again.
But BLEED is an abbreviation though, it stands for Ballistic Locational Energy Explosive Damage. Just thought your mod name also has meaning, so I'm just curious.
Do you think it might be possible to remove the ability to draw your weapon during the "panic"? It feels a bit awkward in gameplay to draw your gun during the effect and be forced to put it away immediately, especially during some, *ahem*... flashier animations (hit)
I also personally feel the gameplay flows much better with a 3-second disable timer since it allows more spread out groups of enemies a chance to retaliate. I changed the timer in FNVEdit myself so no pressure to officiate it, but it's maybe something to think about as an option. Thanks for this mod!
Couple of reasons. Ferals weren't affected by the Flare Gun effect from Lonesome Road, which is what I based the original mechanic on. Secondly, because of how resistant Ferals seem to be to pain, it made sense to me that they wouldn't react to being set on fire the same way as people.
Would it be possible to have an option to trigger the effect on critical hits instead of based on fire resistance? It's an amazingly cool mod, but feels extremely broken once you get a flamer...
This is a great idea! Configs for panic time and panic cooldown would be amazing too. This mod's really slick, but I feel like I can't use fire weapons without breaking the game in half.
