About this mod

Improves the underwhelming Mysterious Stranger and Miss Fortune perks by adding a chance to gain their help as temporary allies after randomly encountering them in the world.

I don't know about you but I have 1000+ hours in New Vegas and I have never, ever taken the perks Mysterious Stranger or Miss Fortune. Their perk effect of randomly appearing to help during a VATS attack just seems so limited and underwhelming that it never appealed to me.

So I thought of a way to improve these perks and make them a lot more fun and viable. Now if you take the Mysterious Stranger or Miss Fortune perks, in addition to their ability to randomly appear during VATS, you will now have a small chance to randomly encounter them anywhere in the world. Upon running into one of them, they will temporarily travel with you for a bit and help protect you from foes. Now the Mysterious Stranger already has his own cool theme but Miss Fortune didn't have anything. So I made one for her from the intro to the track "Trader's Life" from Fallout 1 by Mark Morgan.

Make no mistake, these two guardian angels are powerful allies. They aren't followers--they won't carry your stuff or put up with your bullshit. Their reasons for traveling with you are their own. And if you make the mistake of betraying them by starting a fight, you will lose.

The base chance to encounter one of them is 10%. If you have the Friendly Help challenge perk, the chance goes up to 20%.

After some time spent traveling with them, these two will wander off to continue their mysterious business alone. But who knows? You might see them again.
