THE PROBLEM AND THE SOLUTION

Among EVE's several Laser/Plasma critical death effects which trigger on a random victim, there is a particular one that causes the victim to disintegrate while floating up in the air before bursting into nothingness. A pretty cool effect, yet one that has an unfortunate consequence: just as with the problem that I explained and fixed with my EVE Grenade Lag Fix, this one also generates rocks upon activation which are using textures from the Textures/Landscape folder. Thus, the first time this death effect gets triggered after you load a game from the main menu, a brief 1-second freeze will happen. This can happen while using nearly every single Laser/Plasma weapon in the game. However, this time the same solution did not work - changing the rock textures to a resolution as low as 128x128 did not produce results, and neither did the next step of dropping their number from both offending meshes down to a total of 15 (from 70). At the end my barebone basic Nifskope bum couldn't solve this without removing the rocks, so I just deleted them from the mesh and that finally did it. You won't get the effect of them rising up from the ground together with the victim and then dispersing in every direction, but judging from the testing and the video demonstration below, they're such a small visual element that you likely won't miss them at all. You CAN notice the dispersion at the end of the Before portion of the video, but in my opinion it's not worth it.

INSTALLATION

Install the mod with your mod manager of choice, overwriting EVE's original two meshes when prompted.
If installing with the Mod Organizer, either merge it with EVE or install it BELOW EVE in the left section of the manager.

Many thanks to EVE's main creator Weijiesen for allowing me to upload this. Credits for the main mod go to him and the rest of EVE's team. I just did some basic troubleshooting because I really love that old mod.

Enjoy!
