Even More Accurate Geiger Clicking

This mod does three four five things:

  • Increases the Pip-Boy Geiger clicking beyond the vanilla default.  Same thing the previous mod did, though now with a fix for rare cases where the clicking would linger.

  • V0.92: Fully accurate Pip-Boy Geiger clicking below 1 RAD/SEC and between integers.  For example, standing in +0.05 RAD/SEC will cause the Geiger counter to click only rarely.

  • Increases the accuracy of the radiation meter.  You can choose 1, 2, or 3 decimal places.  Remember, in the vanilla game, any exposure between +0.001 RAD/SEC and +1.999 RAD/SEC is indicated in the radiation meter as "+1 RAD/SEC".  That's a wide range, especially considering it covers 99% of actual cases in New Vegas.  Not anymore.  No more getting worked up over a trivial reading.

  • Forces the speed effects of the Atomic! perk to apply immediately.  The Atomic! perk includes bonuses to attack speed and run speed whenever the player character enters areas of radiation.  However, because of how these effects are applied, there can be a delay of up to a full second of radiation exposure before the speed kicks in.  Sometimes you can enter and exit radiation and never even see the speed effects apply.  Now they will apply immediately.

  • Removes the messages normally provided by the Atomic! perk which indicate when you enter and exit radiation.  These stack in the upper left, same as messages for getting critical hits or crippling limbs, with the same obvious limitations.  Since you already get a handy notice about radiation exposure in the form of the meter in the upper-right corner, these messages are unnecessary.

All of the above is optional and can be configured.

Here's an old video demonstrating the clicking (predates the other changes):

Notes:
  • It would obviously be best to uninstall the previous mod, More Accurate Geiger Clicking.  Nothing will break if you don't, but the effect will be doubled.
  • No dependencies.  No vanilla edits.  Load order doesn't matter.
  • The inaccuracy of the speed effects in the Atomic! perk applies in both instances: when you enter radiation and the effects start, and when you exit radiation and the effects end.  Since the vanilla game has latency when it comes to applying the effect, it stands to reason there's also latency when it comes to removing the effect.  In this mod, I have chosen to fix the former latency, but maintain the latter latency, since it could reasonably be considered a benefit, and it is not the goal of this mod to lessen the utility of perks.
  • Thanks go to Axonis for steering me through HUD particulars.
