This very simple mod makes it so hitting or shooting an enemy will give you a numerical readout of the damage you deal in the form of a display message.

While it isn't truly scriptless, this extremely simple mod uses just one short script to give you a basic idea of your numerical damage output. It requires no other resources to run, just the .esp. There are two versions to choose from, one which uses NVSE and the JIP plugin and one which doesn't require it and is completely standalone. The non-NVSE mod works by reading your target's health before and after you hit them, and printing out the difference to a message display, which is only about 50% reliable. The NVSE version uses direct script effects to retrieve the damage you deal to enemies and is much simpler and more reliable.
There are a few known minor bugs. If an NPC is attacking the same target as you, you will be shown the damage dealt by the NPC in addition to your own damage. Also, weapons that produce a delay between the time you shoot or throw and/or don't require you to aim directly at the target to hit them require you to aim at them after firing if you want to read their damage.
The only difference in the two versions aside from their consistency is in their handling of multi-projectile weapons such as shotguns or weapons with two or more sources of damage, like explosive bullets. The non-NVSE version will display the entire damage of the shot at once in one message, whereas the NVSE version will display the damage inflicted by each projectile/explosion separately. This can be cumbersome when used with shotguns, since if all pellets hit the target it will trigger a sequence of 7 or more messages.
