About this mod
Boone's wife was sold at auction in Cottonwood Cove? Where? This aims to fix that and flesh out the location.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
I was walking to The Fort through Cottonwood Cove on my new playthrough and noticed how empty and open this one parking lot was, and it struck me how good the location would be for an auction like the one mentioned by Boone but never seen in the game. It was weird how Boone implied there was such an auction at Cottonwood Cove but we never actually saw it.
This was a missed opportunity because it would help to flesh out the legion's brutality, add to Fallout's bleak and isolating atmosphere, and further add to the player's frustration with the ineffectual NCR as Ranger Station Echo watches all of this while doing nothing.
What's been added?
- An auction platform with slaves. I've made use of the open resources in NVR (thanks Dracomies!) to add crying ambience to make the miserable location even worse.
- A tent with the Quaestor (name of fiscal slave seller from antiquity) who would handle the purchases of captures.
- Three readable notes, including a ledger and two warnings. These notes include several references to both in-game lore as well as references to characters in both Someguy's and the Ov3rseer's mods.
- You can find the skeletons of a number of failed escapees out in the desert near and around the southeastern portion of the map. These lonely and desperate deaths intend re-capture the bleak, lonely, moribund atmosphere that seemed to permeate classic Fallouts.
Questions
Did you needlessly inject your politics into this mod?
No. This is meant to be an atmospheric mod first and foremost. If you ask though, personally I think freedom is good and slavers are bad and should be fought, so yeah not a big fan.
Why can't I buy the slaves?
If you want to roleplay as a human trafficker that badly make your own mod.
Do you plan to release a merge of all of your little locations mod?
Yes, someday when I'm satisfied with all of the locations I have thought about touching I'll release a merge. Until then it shouldn't be hard for you to merge them yourself.
