Overview

Heavily inspired by the BLD mod for fallout 4 by Zzyxzz.

Headshots are now scripted events.

All headshots have the potential to be lethal, depending on weapon calibre, creature type, whether it was fired from a rifle or a pistol and whether or not the target is wearing a helmet. For example, a 12.7mm or 308 round will one-shot headshot a super mutant, but a 10mm or 357magnum won't.

Headshots with any calibre will kill humanoids unless they are wearing a helmet.
Non-slug using shotguns will not headshot at all.

The mod uses The Mod Configuration Menu to allow users to customize the version of the mod they want.

Users can configure the following:
  • make themselves immune to headshots
  • make companions are immune to headshots
  • the protection level of power armour helmets against headshots,
  • whether or not they want to buff shotguns (to make up for the fact that shotguns cannot headshot)
  • make a distinct sound play whenever they headshot someone
  • make enemies' heads explode when you headshot them

The mod will still work without The Mod Configuration Menu, however, everything will be set to default settings (shotgun buffs on, the player is not immune to scripted headshots, power armour helmets give medium protection).

Details

How headshots work:

Headshots have the potential to be instant kills depending on certain factors.

Enemies are divided into 3 categories:

Light
  • humans, ghouls, and uncategorized creatures with less than 250 hit points
  • they can be headshot with any type of gun or calibre (not including stuff like the bb gun)
  • if any human or ghoul has more than 500 hit points they will be categorized as "heavy" instead of light (so that boss-level enemies cant be one-shot)
  • Humans wearing heavy head protection (DT is larger than or equal to 5), such as power armour helmets, will be categorized depending on user input in the mod configuration menu, but by default, they are categorized as "medium"

Medium
  • super mutants, robots, radscorpions, humans wearing heavy head protection (DT is larger than or equal to 5) and uncategorized creatures with more than 250 hit points
  • these need 308, 45-70Govt, 12.7mm or plasma to be instakilled

Heavy
  • deathclaws and anything with more than 500 hp
  • you will need 50mg or a gauss rifle to one-shot them

Helmets:

Regular helmets (DT is less than or equal to 4) can sometimes protect people from being instantly killed by headshots, depending on the caliber of the bullet and the DT of the helmet.
For example, a 44 magnum bullet fired from a pistol may need a couple of tries to penetrate a combat helmet, and a 9mm bullet may have trouble penetrating an NCR helmet.
If a helmet blocks a bullet you will hear a distinct CLANG sound.
