About this mod

Allows you to turn yourself in to Officer Kendall when you exit your room during the Escape! quest in the Fallout 3 intro.

Permissions and credits
In Fallout 2's intro tutorial The Temple of Trials, when you near the end of the dungeon and are told you have to fight a fellow tribesman to exit the dungeon and prove you are the Chosen One, your character has the ability to use their speech skill to talk your opponent out of fighting. You can preach to him about how not all problems have to end in bloody violence and that there is valor in solving problems without it. Note that this is simply to talk him out of sparring with you, it's not even a fight to the death.

In Fallout 3 however, during the Escape! quest in the intro where the Vault 101 guards and a dungeon are in your way of the Overseer, there is absolutely nothing you can do to make the security non hostile to you, and no way you can explain that you don't know anything and would like to just go to the Overseer. These guards, some of who have known you since childhood and even attended your birthday party are just meatbags for you to murder. Well not anymore.

This mod brings a bit of optional pacifism to the Escape! quest.

When you exit your room into the hallway, Officer Kendall will kill the roaches as per usual but then won't immediately start beating you, but instead, talking to him will activate a prompt where you can choose to either turn yourself in or resist your arrest.

-Turning yourself in grants you positive karma as you opted to not be violent, however you will be teleported immediately to the Vault 101 jail and miss out on whatever you might've found or gotten by doing the dungeon. (Including saving Butch's mom and any loot along the way) ((Maybeeeee you can go back and do it if you really want, but I'm not sure))

-Resisting arrest will garner you negative karma as you chose to get violent with Officer Kendall, and he will turn hostile and attack you like vanilla Fallout 3. The rest of the guards will also be hostile to you as you are now considered armed and dangerous.

-A third option is you can simply walk past Officer Kendall if you help him with the radroaches and he doesn't die by them, however the rest of the guards (excluding Gomez of course) will be hostile on sight as usual.

-To go even further if you would like to do the dungeon, but still not kill any of the officers, I've changed their AI Data so that hitting them for enough damage will make them run away rather than fight you to the death (totally not a stolen idea of VegasWanderer's Fallout 3 mod ;) )

In short, you now have multiple ways of tackling the Vault 101 escape without being forced to murder the people you grew up with.
