About this mod

Reworks vanilla's practically non-existent passive healing from high Endurance to be more noticeable and affect all levels of Endurance.

=== Description ===

You may not know this, but vanilla New Vegas has passive healing. At least... I didn't know and was sure surprised when I found out.

This passive healing is determined by Game Settings. Endurance 6, 7, and 8 grant 0.33 HP per in-game hour, and Endurance 9 and 10 grant twice that. That means that at the default timescale of 30, you get a total of 1 whole-ass HP every 6 or 3 real-time minutes! Wowza!

This level of healing means nothing to - and I hope I'm not overstepping with my generalization here - any player. If they ever noticed it at all.

To remedy this, this system was wholly replaced with:

HP/sec = 0.011111 + 0.005555 * END

At Endurance 1, you regenerate 1 HP every 60 seconds.
At Endurance 5, you regenerate 1 HP every 26 seconds.
At Endurance 10, you regenerate 1 HP every 15 seconds.

This is still relatively tiny, but now it is noticeable and all stages of Endurance benefit from passive healing.

Not happy with this? You can configure the formula through MCM:

HP/sec = Base + Mult * END

With readouts to preview your changes included! Though, getting the sorts of readouts you want with the controls may be difficult, so try previewing them in this desmos calculator where you control the "readout" to figure out the values you want.

=== Installation ===

  • Make sure you have Mod Configuration Menu and its prerequisite NVSE already installed.
  • Use a mod manager (Preferably Mod Organizer 2) or manually install into the Data folder of your F:NV installation.
  • Check the mod for conflicts (Preferably in FNVEdit) - though I sincerely doubt there will be any.
  • Make sure the .esp is active when you start the game.

=== Compatibility ===

Endurance Heal Rate Game Settings
  • The Conflict: The main feature of this mod (the HP regen) is new and won't ever be overwritten, but the following Game Settings are set to 0 because this mod replaces their functionality;
  • fAVDHealRateEndurance6Bonus, fAVDHealRateEndurance7Bonus, fAVDHealRateEndurance8Bonus, fAVDHealRateEndurance9Bonus, fAVDHealRateEndurance10Bonus.
  • If Alt Endurance HP Regen is overwritten: The Game Settings overwritten will again have an impact, which is unintended in combination with this mod.
  • The Solution: Let Alt Endurance HP Regen overwrite instead.

Passive Heal Rate Mods
  • Another mod adds its own passive healing scheme, stacking on top of this one. It's up to you exactly how desirable this is.
  • AFAIK, C93's FPS Health Regen and Health Regeneration are the only ones even close to the concept.
  • Huerta's OneBody only heals limb conditions, which this mod does not interact with.

=== Future Plans ===

  • Make the formula customizable via Mod Configuration Menu. Done!
  • Make a patch that applies this healing to NPCs using JIP's feature that makes it possible to add perks to NPCs. (If anyone would like to try, go ahead! Just remember to give me credit for the use of my mod!)
  • Edit the Vigor Tester's and Pip-Boy's description of Endurance to include mention of "passive healing." (Seriously, I can't find them, anyone know how?)
