Hey, I scaled the brim down by 13% and think it looks really good. Would you be interested in uploading it as an optional file?

I wish I knew how to do this because the ranger gray and brown hat really need some love like this

    any possibility of a fix?

      Make your head smaller.

I'll deal with it eventually, I'm busy with school and can't be bothered to test incremental changes right now. That's the vanilla head mesh, right?

      I believe so?

I'm using "Two Wastelands Redesigned" which i think just edits the faces of npc's, not the head mesh.
      https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/73667

I've actually been wanting to try editing my face to see if a different face morph will remove the clipping, but i cant figure out how to safely pull up the face editor in ttw.
I know if you go to NV from DC doc will let you regen your face in his house, but i'm already past this point so i'm not sure what to do.

as a test i removed TWR and started a new game, and it seems like even in vanilla with certain face morphs your head will clip through the hat. :/

It does it with a lot of hats actually.

showracemenu 14 should work with a specific framework mod enabled but I forget which, you can always just do it and then not save the game and exit? But yeah I'll get around to it at some point in the future.

Tested it with YUP, no YUP, and even the ghoul head clipping fix, this mesh is just too compact for it to fit on a ghoul even with all available fixes unfortunately.

So, the thing is, all of those just replace the same mesh. You can't test this "with" anything. You can test those individually but if this is loading after those, then you're testing only this.

The other mods alter the size of the ghoul head, they do not overwrite this file and at no point was I overwriting your files. Even with the one which shrinks the ghoul head to the highest degree, your mesh is still not the correct size.
Under all tested conditions, this mod does not properly conform to a ghouls head and results in clipping.

It's a pretty minor bug and just something you should consider in the future if you make another hat mod, ghoul heads are f*#@ huge, hence why hats were oversized in the base game

3ds max, the 2013 version required for exporting FNV meshes. Just quadrifiy with different parts selected at once so it doesn't mangle the geometry, then turbo smooth, making sure it's working with smoothing groups (after giving the mesh smoothing groups), plus the usual welding vertices then welding UV seams that I do with all of the meshes I mess with.

The only thing stopping me from getting into new vegas mod making has been 3dsmax. So expensive.

I prefer it over Blender or Maya. If you are still in academic studies and actively going to a college or university, I heard you can possibly get a free trial of 3DS Max (assuming you live in English countries).

I love this mod for the record, but if there's one small nit to pick, Beatrix Russel's hair seems to clip through it a bit.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - it's hardly noticeable for what it's worth. Could also be something on my end, but not sure.

Just checked, the vanilla version of the mesh is unskinned. I used the TTW copy of the file after Roy had gone through and skinned all the hats so yes, I used a properly fixed copy of the file to start with.
