About this mod

A follow-up to my previous mod. Adds new dialogue options to convince Joshua at the end of Crush the White Legs. Does not feature any unvoiced dialogue or fan-made audio.

NOTE: This mod is an expansion of my previous Honest Hearts Speech Check Replaced, if you want a simpler version of this mod with no original text, check that one out instead.

Even though the Honest Hearts storyline is reportedly meant for Level 10 Characters, the only way to achieve its "best ending" is with a Speech Check of 90, to convince Joshua Graham to spare the White Legs' leader, Salt-Upon-Wounds. Like in the other mod, this one seeks to give the player alternative options to convince Joshua based on information and items they may have acquired during their journey, instead of just relying on a high Speech.

The options this mod offers are:
  • [Speech 100] - For players who want to pick the same choice as the vanilla game, or who haven't managed to meet any other criteria. The speech requirement has been upped from 90 to 100, to put Graham alongside Ulysses and Lanius in the "hard-to-convince" tiers (And the Think Tank... maybe they could use a mod of their own...);

  • [Scripture] + [Speech 75] - One of the original considerations from the first mod. This choice is unlocked if the player has a Scripture item in their inventory during the talk with Joshua, allowing them to quote Mormonisms at him until he repents (if they have enough Speech for it). Note that, although the wiki and some other sources claim that you can get a Scripture through specific conversations with Daniel, I've never been able to confirm that myself, so I added one to his Vendor Inventory, which you can buy if you have enough Barter for it;

  • [Randall Clark's Note] - A similar option to the original mod. This choice is unlocked if the player has collected the Year: 2124 note from Randall Clark's final resting place at The Red Gate. This time, the option features original text to better represent just why the Courier can convince Graham using this;

  • [Friend of Sorrows] - A unique option. With this one, I wanted to add some criteria that aren't really featured in any other dialogue in the game, and that few players would encounter on their own, but that would serve as a great reward for those that do. In case the player has completed both Sorrows' sidequests ("Rite of Passage" for White Bird and "Family Affairs" for Waking Cloud) and is wielding the unique Yao Guai Gauntlet She's Embrace when talking to Joshua, this option will be available;

  • [Tribal Wisdom] - A simple option. This one gives the player something to say if they have the Tribal Wisdom perk, acquired through levelling up. It's a minor choice, which mostly serves to add a unique interaction to this perk which surprisingly has no unique function during the DLC story which is all about Tribes.

Note that, regardless of the choice picked, Joshua's response, final speech, and ending slide all remain the same as if the original Speech 90 option was picked.

(In addition, this mod also replaces a dialogue choice from the previous conversation with Salt-Upon-Wounds, which I felt was too... quirky for the tense situation at hand: "Whoa. I didn't sign up for this." to "This is not what I wanted", as seen in the page images above)

Special thanks to TKKKT and others who suggested the idea for this mod in the original one's comments.
