About this mod

Completely overhauls starting gear based on tagged skills, and contextually adds bonus starting equipment based on SPECIAL stats. Provides a set of formlists that can be changed to create your own custom starting gear. Also contains an example custom gear set that includes the courier's pack DLC.

Overview:
The starting equipment that Doc gives you is pretty lackluster, and not very fun, and it's especially not character-dynamic. Dynamic and based on every potential tagged skill! DSGO overhauls the starting gear with an equipment list for every tagged skill, AND it gives you bonus equipment based on your SPECIAL stats.

This was created with the intent to be a framework that'll let anyone upload their own custom starting gear array. Included in the optional files, is an example gear change plugin that integrates the Courier's Pack DLC into a few of the equipment disbursal lists. This plugin can be used as a template to use FNVEdit to simply change, delete, or add items to the provided LVLI entries to adjust what you get at the start of the game.

Installation:
Put this below any other character creation overhaul type mods, and you should be fine.
Strongly recommended for use with any sane nail gun rebalance that makes it a tier 1 weapon.

Compatibility:
It's actually pretty compatible! Surprise! Just load this after any other mod that changes starting equipment, and you should see my equipment disbursed to you instead. The only form this edits is the "Here, this is all you had on you" dialog entry and it's associated script.

Usage notes:
There are no longer any default items given to the player, other than the Unlucky list at the very least. If you managed to get past the tag skills menu with no tagged skills and Luck above 2, you would get no gear whatsoever.
The bonus lists are just that: bonuses. You don't exchange the default melee tag weapon for the high strength melee weapon, you get both. This leaves you with more choices for your weapon type if you're more capable.
This won't equip the armor/clothing it gives you like vanilla does. Those equip references were stuck in the script file, so they wouldn't be able to update with whatever gear changes have been made in the lists.

TTW Compatibility?
Incompatible. However, there is a TTW version of DSGO included in (Benny Humbles You) and Steals Your Stuff
BHYSYS is the "primary version" that I use, with a custom gear set based off my mod setup. Both versions will be updated in relative parody, and I don't expect that there will be any major changes to the script.

Questions:
Why is __ in this list?
I themed each list after what your character will probably be focusing on based on your stat choices. With some of the lists, the gear that they give you can potentially be combined to get 10 in a special in Goodsprings without choosing it at the vigor tester. Since this is generally only possible with judicial use of disbursed aid items, I think it's fine, and gives you choices in the early game.
I put in crafting ingredients for things like doctor's bags, repair kits, fire bombs and similar in some of the lists based on their themes as well. You may not have recipes for every misc item I've included, but you can find those elsewhere.
You should put __ in ___ list:
I'm open to adjusting the starting gear sets for balance and immersion reasons. Detail what you think the default gear for a set should be and why, and I'll consider adjusting things in the next version.

Creating your own custom gear set:
Don't change the editor IDs for any of the item lists, they'll break the script.
You could very simply add more conditions and lists to your version of the mod with just a working Geck install very simply. If you don't know how to go about that, ask in the posts and I'll give you a simple walkthrough on how to go about that.
The custom gear esp is literally only missing one file from the main file: the dialog entry. If you want to make changes in the original file's LVLI lists and just redistribute that without the DSGO master requirement, go for it! Please just credit me for the basic work that I did to make it possible.
