I am positively surprised that people are still interested in this mod over 2 years after I released it. Sadly it seems that the mod broke at some point. The culprit seems to be a JIP function, CloseActiveMenu working differently than it did when I last updated this. I have released an update to address that.
Unfortunately this update does have an issue of its own. Depending on your keybindings the pipboy may no longer close automatically when you get the message stating that it will be closed. The workaround for that is manually closing the pipboy. That is the best I can do for now with the aforementioned JIP function being broken as of writing this.
Is it possible to install this mod with TTW? I used the outfit in the mojave, and it said "congratulations, you are level 20!" , but no one came up to me to start the Frontier questline. I also used the outfit a while after I left doc mitchel's house; must the outfit be used immediately after you leave his house? Also, I believe I am using the original version of Fallout: The Frontier.
Can't get the mod to work. Quick start item does not show up in inventory after starting new game. The item also does not show up after leaving Doc Mitchell's house. the mod is enabled and the plugin shows up on load order.
After several attempts, I wasn't able to reproduce this problem, if more people report this problem or can back you up on this being an actual problem I will look into it more closely but for now.
Please make sure you have do the following to try and fix things:
Verify that this mod "Ludarks Alternative QuickStart for The Frontier.esp" is actually active/enabled in your load order
Make a new character using the new game button in the main menu, don't use console commands or other mods to bypass it and please don't spam through the main menu as fast as possible, let it load up properly(normally it shouldn't matter but for safety/testing purposes I want to eliminate this variable).
If the above doesn't work, I am going to need more information, such as your load order(I need to verify nothing completely broken like zan's autopurge is there) and the exact steps you took to cause this bug, so that I can look into patching it if it's not another broken mod causing this.
Were you using version 1.1 or earlier when you ran The Quickstarter? If so those versions had a bug where your level would be adjusted properly but you would not get the xp you should have had at that level. Which means that you would have needed a huge amount of xp to get to the next level If that's the case please read the top comment of this thread and try the alternative solution. That should fix things.
If that doesn't please let me know and I'll see if I can come up with a different solution.
This is going to be an essential mod for my frontier playthroughs. Thank you very much. It saves me having to use console commands and google character builders and perk requirements etc etc. like you said. A word about the Legion MQ. If I'm remembering correctly, the Legion MQ is accessible at the end of the NCR MQ Act 1 as long as you have Liked reputation with the Mojave Legion. One line of script would be enough to increase your rep with them and open up the Northern Legion MQ. And if the user literally wants to skip to the Northern Legion from the get-go, a player could use that rep increase option and then press the quest failsafe hotkey built into The Frontier that lets you skip along the NCR questline - Ctrl + Alt + M.
I haven't played through the legion MQ yet(am planning to). But having actually looked at the scripts responsible for The Frontier's build in quick start(since I wanted to figure out why it won't let you pick your own perks on a technical level). I can tell you that it does a lot more than just increasing your rep. Though that may end up impacting the Base game in undesirable ways from what I can tell, since it auto completes a bunch of legion quests(among other things). This was probably done for an optimal experience but could potentially also have some draw backs.
So thank you for the suggestion, I will definitely look into it and see if I can get the Legion MQ working, with the caveat that some side content might be missing.

Edit: Reinstall of the mod fixed it.
However when I created a new character its gone, uninstalled and reinstalled without success..
