DESCRIPTION
For my last mod of 2020, here's a weapon inspired by the X-Gun from the anime/manga series Gantz, which fires a wave of compressed energy that takes time to deliver its effect on target, after which point the target violently explodes. While powerful, this delay between firing and any observable physical effect means that the target still has a chance to kill the wielder. I adapted this basic idea into the L.A.G. 5000. In my headcanon, this was initially developed as a medical device to perform quick and easy amputations, dissections, etc. However, negligence on the part of its designers allows its power level to be tweaked beyond its safety limits, weaponizing it to violently dismember limbs.
I started with the Alien Atomizer mesh from Mothership Zeta and removed the topmost barrel, replacing it with the stubbier bottom barrel. I then rounded off the pistol grip, and changed the Alien Power Cell out for a standard Micro Fusion Cell. I also added the small screen from the Scrap Electronics mesh.
Gameplay-wise, this weapon is fragile, expensive, energy-intensive, and slow-firing, but also incredibly powerful. Each pull of the trigger consumes ten Micro Fusion Cells, and at first glance doesn't seem to do anything at all. But, wait a few seconds and any living target that it hits will be gibbed. Which part of the target's body gets gibbed depends on where you shoot them, so you can target individual limbs, head, or torso to achieve different outcomes. The weapon cannot be modded, but I've added it to all the appropriate form lists, so that all perks and challenges that affect energy pistols will work as expected.
