Replaces skill book skill bonuses with incremental, small combat bonuses related to the skill in question.

Why would I want this?
- Because you like to min-max, but also like to explore organically, and maximizing your use of skill books prevented you from that.
- Because you don't want to "lose out" on skill book bonuses simply because you didn't plan every last one out.
- Because you don't like that maxing out your skill on level-up is objectively the wrong/suboptimal thing to do for your character.
- Because you want longer character progression and more character definition (your characters will have lower skill levels in general, and lower skill levels in skills they don't specialize in).

What does this mod do, exactly?
With this mod whenever you read a skill book, instead of getting a skill bonus you will get a perk that adds a small bonus to your character to reflect your new knowledge. Some of the bonuses don't fit perfectly, but unfortunately they're the best I could do with what's possible in FNV.

The perks are as follows:

Studied: Barter
You have studied bartering in the post-apocalyptic wasteland. With each rank, you learn tricks for haggling and appraising wares better (1% cheaper wares from merchants), and you learn minor logistical tricks used by traveling merchants (+3lb carry weight).

Studied: Energy Weapons
You have studied the usage of energy weapons. For each rank of this perk, you learn how to better optimize your weapons' energy output (+2% bonus to damage) and how to handle them more adroitly (+2% attack speed).

Studied: Explosives
You have studied the usage of explosives. For each rank of this perk, you learn how to optimize explosive yield (+3% damage with explosives, +2% explosive radius).

Studied: Guns
You have studied the usage of guns. For each rank of this perk, you learn how to optimize your usage of ballistic weapons slightly more (+2% more accuracy, +2% more damage).

Studied: Lockpicking
You have studied the art of lockpicking. With each rank of this perk, you've learned to better tinker with fiddly mechanisms (+1% slower item condition decay), and you know how to better steady your hands (+2% more accuracy with ranged weapons).

Studied: Medicine
You have studied medical literature. For each rank of this perk, you learn to optimize the dosage of chemicals better (-2% addiction chance) and better wound care (2% more health restored with items).

Studied: Melee
You have studied the usage of melee weapons in combat. For each rank of this perk, you have learned how to better care for and sharpen your weapon (+2% bonus to melee weapon damage), and learned tricks to improve your stance (+1% attack speed).

Studied: Repair
You have studied the air of repair and maintenance. For each rank in this perk, you've learned how to maintain your equipment better (2% slower item decay), and are better at recovering spent casings (5% more likely).

Studied: Science
You have studied scientific literature. With each rank, you've learned to optimize chemical interactions (+2% positive chem duration) as well as the likely weak points of robotic enemies (+2% crit chance against robots).

Studied: Sneak
You have studied the art of stealth. With each rank of this perk, you have learned to better optimize your movements (+2% stealth movement speed) and are better at targeting weak points (+2% sneak critical damage).

Studied: Speech
You've studied the art of speech and argument. With each rank of this perk, you protect your weaknesses better (-1% to enemy crit chance) and look deeper into things (+1% XP gained).

Studied: Survival
You've studied post-apocalyptic wasteland survival. For each level of this perk, you learned to protect yourself from common hazards a little better (+1% radiation resistance, +1% poison resistance) and how to handle the fauna, both radioactive and not (+2% damage against animals and mutated animals/insects).

Studied: Unarmed
You have studied unarmed combat techniques. For each rank of this perk, you learn how to apply your body better in combat (+0.5 unarmed damage, +0.50 DT against melee attacks).

The Big Guns book, if you've reactivated the skill with mods, grants the following:
Studied: Big Guns
You have studied the usage of heavy weapons. With each rank of this perk, you learn to handle them slightly better (+2% damage, +2% attack speed).

In the vanilla game with all DLCs, you can get up to 7/9 of each book, depending on the skill in question. However, the mod supports up to 40 ranks in each perk, so you should be fine if for some reason you have modded more skill books into your game.
Fallout New Vegas with TTW 3.2 contains a total of ~30 of each book.

There is also a half-strength version available that has almost all of the perk values halved, if you feel that they're too strong.
This is recommended for installs including TTW 3.2, which restores the Fallout 3 books and decreases the skill bonus per book.

To slightly make up for the Comprehension perk losing its main use, and for lower skill levels across the board, skill magazines had their bonuses increased from +10 to +15 (+30 with comprehension).

Requirements:
NVSE 4.5 or higher

Incompatibilities:
A very minor incompatibility with TTW, which changes the survival book from NV (Wasteland Survival Guide) to have a different name and icon. Easily resolved with a merged patch, which you should be using anyway.

The mod was mainly made for personal use, but please do report any bugs, requests or concerns.

The mod was cleaned with FNVEdit and contains no dirty edits.
