Alternate Version & Alternate Version B updated to 1.1 to fix issue of overwriting default glass texture when not wanted. If updating, remember to uninstall the old version so the offending texture is removed. Apologies for inconvenience from dopey error.

This excellent mod is included in Essential Vanilla Enhancements.

This is mainly here for reference for myself, as I replay New Vegas every year or so, and often do new installations.  And for people who don't like to read.  This will message may be helpful for them too.

Dunno if anyone cares, but the reason why the glass is busted in vanilla is because Obsidian set the alpha threshold below 1, so the effective transparency of the glass in those spots is forced close to absolute transparency. Setting it back to 1 makes it work fine.

This also fixes the glass in the McCarran interrogation room.

Why not just overwrite the old normal map? Since you edited the mesh, any texture replacer mod that might touch it would end up with a normal not matching the diffuse.

Thank you, cracked glass, even if bulletproof doesn't work the way the original texture had it.

Damn, what has been seen now cannot be unseen...although now that I see it and think about it, I was wondering if that's just a plastic film that's worn off revealing the spotless glass underneath (similar to what they use on trains when people decide to take a pocket knife to the windows)

Ahh who am I kidding it's most certainly bugged. Maybe the whole thing was meant to be inverted? Clear spots having dirt, rest of the cloudy glass meant to be clear?

You could definitely make the case that it's intentional. Like it's damaged film, or supposed to be dirt. But if that's true it's a pretty shoddy job of it. Looking at the mesh and the alpha channel of the texture I lean much more towards it's a screw-up they just decided to leave in (maybe cause there were bigger fish to fry).

Thank you. It's always annoying when the developers try to take shortcuts to make things look weathered and we end up with a mess.

That pretty much sums up all of F:NV.
      Thank Dog/God for mods.

I doubt it was a shortcut and more due to unfamiliarity with the tools considering that NV was made in just 18 months
