Nerve is a mechanic that is supposed to modify the effectiveness of your companions based on your Charisma stat.
The problem is most people can't even tell it exists. This mod helps correct that.

You may have seen the game reference a mechanic called "Nerve" a handful of times. It claims that having higher charisma will make your companions more effective in combat.

Unfortunately, Nerve only barely works, just giving a damage bonus for every point of charisma you. This is so unnoticable that most of us have just assumed it didn't work at all.

Since I don't know how you'd actually go about fixing Nerve properly, I've made my own implementation with pretty much the same functionality via a hidden perk that will be automatically added to your character upon loading your game.

Nerve Reimplemented is 100% compatible and will function with any and all vanilla and modded companions that have a Companion Wheel. No scripts or compatibility patches required.

This mod requires the JIP LN NVSE plugin. I think.
The unofficial geck wiki says it fixes a bug with the application of companion perks, and Nerve Reimplemented doesn't seem to work correctly without it.

After installing the mod, wait about twenty seconds, save your game, and reload. The effects of Nerve: Reimplemented may or may not kick in otherwise. (It's weird.)




The specifics of how Nerve Reimplemented will affect your Companions is as follows:

Charisma 1: Carry Weight Reduced by 25 lbs
Charisma 2: Carry Weight Reduced by 15 lbs
Charisma 3: Carry Weight Reduced by 10 lbs
Charisma 4: Carry Weight Reduced by 5 lbs
Charisma 5: Companions affected neither positively or negatively.
Charisma 6: Carry weight increased by 5 lbs, Damage Resistance increased by 5%
Charisma 7: Carry weight increased by 10 lbs, Damage Resistance increased by 10%
Charisma 8: Carry weight increased by 15 lbs, Damage Resistance increased by 15%
Charisma 9: Carry weight increased by 20 lbs, Damage Resistance increased by 20%
Charisma 10:  Carry weight increased by 25 lbs, Damage Resistance increased by 25%
