Nearly four years in the making, Brave New World gathers the work of professional actors to revoice Fallout: New Vegas.

Many of the NPCs in New Vegas were memorable and well-acted; characters such as Legate Lanius, Caesar, Raul Tejada, Craig Boone, Cass, etc. However, due to time constraints, a large number of characters were voiced by the same person or a limited set of actors. As an example, Yuri Lowenthal provided the voice of Ringo, Oliver Swanick, Henry Jamison, Nolan McNamara, Lucius, Lars Taggart, Fitz, Keller, Scribe Ibsen, Knight Lorenzo, Ike, Antony, Otho, Alexus and Sergio, etc. Brave New World looks to improve upon this by adding improved casting and actor variety.

Throughout the project's development, we have cycled through 30,000 auditions, carefully selecting actors
and actresses that best fit the demeanor, personality, and appearance of almost 145 NPCs.

Our team has gone to great lengths to make sure that the project meets
the standards of quality expected for voice acting/voice overs within the gaming industry.

We hope you enjoy our Brave New World.

Brave New World will require a brand new playthrough.

To install, download the All-In-One FOMOD Installer from the Main Files section. Then, using either Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex, launch the installer — it may take a few seconds to prepare the files — then carefully follow the on-screen instructions. Select your preferred version as well as any associated patches (the installer will automatically select them for you if you have those mods installed already), and you are good to go.

The FOMOD installer streamlines an otherwise complicated installation process. Therefore, we strongly advise against installing this mod manually. Using either Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex will allow us to troubleshoot any issues you may have with the mod. Please note that the Nexus Mod Manager and Fallout Mod Manager are not supported.

Load order is extremely important. Your Fallout: New Vegas vanilla master files must be in the correct order. Otherwise, you may find that subtitles do not match the Brave New World revoices.

Q: Are we able to play the mod during an ongoing save or is a fresh save required?

A: Because of the unique conditions in this project, Brave New World will require a new game.

Q: Is Brave New World effectively New Vegas Redesigned 4 or is it its own separate thing?

A: While Brave New World initially began as the next iteration of New Vegas Redesigned 3, it has evolved entirely into its own.
Brave New World is a revoice mod for Fallout: New Vegas and we wanted to stay true to this throughout the entire project.

Q: Is Brave New World going to revoice every NPC in Fallout: New Vegas?

A: No, our intention is not to revoice every character in the game. If the characters had excellent acting, i.e. Caesar, Doc Mitchell, Legate Lanius or were iconic characters, we chose to leave them alone. Our main focus was to mitigate 'cloning', and to improve upon acting, pacing, and casting.

Q: Is Fallout Character Overhaul a requirement?

A: No. Brave New World will not require any additional mods. However, please do take note of the recommended mods listed below.

Q: Does this mod redesign NPCs which haven't been revoiced?

A: Currently, no. Brave New World's Revoice and Face Redesign version only covers the revoiced NPCs. This may change in future updates.

Q: What if I don't like the revoice for [Insert NPC name]?

A: While our team loves the work of the voiceactors in this project, we understand that everyone's preferences will vary and some may prefer the original voice actors for particular characters. TheHermit has created a tutorial video on how to carefully remove a revoice from the plugin.

Q: Why do revoiced NPCs sound too loud/quiet in my game?

A: Brave New World's audio has been calibrated with vanilla voice volume levels in mind.
It is therefore recommended that you change your audio settings to the vanilla defaults.

Q: Will Brave New World have patches for/be compatible with Tale of Two Wastelands?

A: Yes. A dedicated TTW version is in the works. Currently, the New Vegas version may still work with Tale of Two Wastelands as is, but it hasn’t been tested.

Q: Will the characters with the new voices have death sounds or will they be completely silent when they die?

A: Due to certain limitations, time constraints and factors out of our control, it was not possible to revoice generic/death/hit lines for *all* NPCs.
However, this shouldn't be an issue as the majority of dialogue combat reactions/comments weren't working properly in vanilla New Vegas. JIP LN NVSE Plugin has fixed this long-standing issue as of version 55.45. With that said, combat/reaction dialogue was revoiced for a number of NPCs where possible. Those that do not have revoices will be using vanilla combat grunts that sound as close as possible to their revoiced counterparts.
It is highly recommended that you install JIP LN NVSE for the best experience.

Q: Will the Revoice and Face Redesign version conflict with New Vegas Redesigned 3, or will it be as simple as overwriting the changes that mod made?

A: They will conflict. However, a patch for the Revoice Only version and Qwinn’s Refined New Vegas Redesigned 3 is in the works if you prefer New Vegas Redesigned 3's designs.

Q: Will you make patches for New Vegas Redesigned 2?

A: A Brave New World compatible version is available on the New Vegas Redesigned 2 mod page.

Face and body-colour mismatches are known to be problematic with mods that add/edit NPCs. Historically, one workaround has been to edit the Fallout.ini by setting fbLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1. We’ve since learned that this isn't good modding practice, as it forces the game to remake all of the face textures at runtime – causing a strain to performance. Instead, what we’ve done is to utilize the Export NPC Face Textures option in the GECK. This generates NPC face textures to fix the issue. However, although most NPCs were accounted for with this method, we found that there were a few NPCs (about 2) that may have some slight body to face mismatches. If this is an issue for you, you can set bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1 in your Fallout.ini. Nevertheless, please note the hit to performance.

There remain some issues with lip-syncing. Laughing lines, in particular, were a bit of a problem. This is a problem with New Vegas in general, and it’s why laughing in New Vegas didn’t sync as well even for the original voice actors. We did the best we could to circumvent this problem, but if you know of another solution, we'd love to hear from you.

Finally, feel free to let us know about any problems you have with the audio in terms of quality. We did the best we could with the raw audio given to us, but if you have any suggestions on areas of improvement, we would love to hear your feedback.

Brave New World will potentially conflict with any mod that makes changes to the vanilla dialogue and vanilla NPCs.
