The problem
Fallout: DUST adds quite a few new weapons to Fallout: New Vegas (see the Fallout: DUST wikia). A lot of these weapons, true to their names, their improvised nature and their intended function in gameplay will likely be used as can opener or throwable after an hour. That's ... sad. Also, escaping the Mojave using just these weapons tested my patience to its limits.

This solution
A trait and a perk for the Survivor. They're exclusive: choose the trait upon creating your character, and you can't chose the perk later on.

The trait affects more weapons, and has other additional advantages over the perk.

Makeshift Talent (Perk)
You're talented with improvised weaponry. If its name starts with Makeshift you hit harder, quicker and with superior accuracy: 25% more damage, 20% faster, 50% less spread for guns and energy weapons.

Makeshift Master (Trait)
You're a master with improvised weaponry. Makeshift, Junk, Dust or Pipe: you hit harder, quicker and with superior accuracy. 25% more damage, 20% faster, 50% less spread for guns and energy weapons. 25% less wear for all of them, and you can repair them with craftable Makeshift Weapon Repair Kits.

The Makeshift Master trait allows for crafting Makeshift Weapon Repair Kits from the following materials exclusively using the Crafting Kit:
1 x Hammer (will be returned after crafting)
1 x Wrench (will be returned after crafting)

And one of either, which will be consumed during crafting:
1 x Scrap Metal
1 x Scrap Electronics
2 x Bent Tin Can
2 x Tin Can  (Yes, there's an extra recipe)

The Makeshift Weapon Repair Kits can only be used on the weapons the trait affects. Otherwise they work exactly like the vanilla Weapon Repair kits. But unlike vanilla Weapon Repair kits, you can't accidentially waste them, if you don't have a weapon equipped.

- Fallout DUST and all of its requirements

Installation
Copy KaPDUSTMSM.esp into your Fallout:New Vegas data folder, have it loaded after DUST.

Deinstallation
Remove KaPDUSTMSM.esp from your Fallout: New Vegas data folder. You will lose the trait/perk and any Makeshift Weapon Repair Kits you crafted.
