Oh ma gaw, it bugs me too. Don’t worry though, the remasters are perfect. I’ve been away from modding because my pc unexpectedly died so progress has halted and will be for some time. But I am still working on my projects.
Just my opinion, but the damage for the M1A1 is too high for a .45 round, 42 is .308 territory, and more powerful than a 12.7mm or44 magnum round in the game. Also, lowering the rate of fire to 7/sec (I assume to compensate?) is taking it away from its real life stats. The vanilla 11/sec is pretty correct, in real life they fired at 600-650 rpm. Someone on the NV team actually knows guns (unlike the Fallout 3/4 idiots) and did pretty well. Now, in real life 1-2 rounds of .45 to the chest should put an unarmored human down but if this thing is 42 damage it kinda makes all the other automatic weapons worthless. In addition, the drums were 50 round or 100 round, not sure why you changed this, unless they didn't fully load magazines to prevent spring wear, which did happen with certain guns.
Models and texture wise, big improvement over Vanilla so good job there. I have to agree with what others have said though, in that a "clean" version would be nice. There are two reasons for this: 1) The first rule for any raider, ranger, tribal warrior, whatever, would be care for your weapon. These weapons wouldn't be left out in the rain, or used to crack open nuts or something, people asking for rusted/damaged weapons don't seem to understand that. They would be cherished and well maintained, nothing would be more valuable. 2) Gun runners make brand new weapons, and I'm sure they aren't the only one.
Yeah I agree it's a lot of damage but if you think about range it'll drop really fast, if you're using a recoil/bullet drop mod it could balance it. Also, it's not just humans roaming the wastes. IMO I believe humans should be easy to take down unless they have power armour or something but even then most to all bullets hit with a ton of energy in a very small space. The damage is mostly meant for creatures, but like I've said before I like a lot of damage. 308 should do 60-70 imo, after-all .50 BMG is only .308 scaled up 5x or something it's the exact same bullet scaled down, so if .50 BMG is 100-120 the game settings are balanced (ew). The developers were making a game and had to think about balance but as I've said before I hate balance... Life is not fair, games that portray a much harsher environment/real-world should reflect that. Of course the player shouldn't be OP, what I mean is the weapons/items should be OP. As for the RPM, a rusty bolt wouldn't travel as fast as a well lubed, treated bolt (that's my justification). Drum Mags I thought were 50? They should be in game if not I did something wrong. The base mag should be 32. All this time I didn't know Gun Runners manufacture guns, I thought they just sourced parts and put things together. Do you actually mean they have like CNC machines N s***?! I get why people want damage and rust (even in real life they paint and scrape the paint to create a worn effect) but it fits in the desert enviro. Clean weapons should come from people with power and resources, tribes, raiders, etc, wouldn't care enough or wouldn't have the resources, I mean you can't clean them with water... You can't do much with alcohol without lube, I'm not sure how they would take of it so much to be clean, rust free yeah, but not damage/dirt free all the time. With FNV I wish there was a system for this though were there's wear and tear on weapons not just a bar that says condition, that would be sick and easier to show weapons that are trashed and weapons that are taken care of, like different textures (maybe 3-5 levels) for different wear levels and the game would switch between em.
The magazine size is 32? I'll have to check that. If it is, it probably shouldn't be.
Unlike many magazines of the era (many of which being based off of the MP28 magazine, such as the MP38/40, Sten, even the Grease Gun), which did indeed hold 32 rounds, the Thompson 30-round magazine held 30 rounds, not 32. The magazine was completely unrelated to the MP28 magazine (and unlike the latter and its derivatives, was double stack and double feed), and actually predated it (since the 30 round magazine was just an extended version of the original 20 round magazine that dated back to the M1921 Thompson).
I feel that the second part is unnecessary. After 200 years of use any firearm would receive a decent amount of wear and tear, while this wouldn't mean the formation of mold or extreme barrel pitting BUT it would mean a fair amount of scratches and surface level rusting on the firearm. I could see this argument being made for the GRA counterparts, after all, it is stated in game that the gun runners reconstruct them with pre war parts/tool new parts, but not for most other guns that are simply floating around in the wastes.
Witching Hour may be the most beautiful 1911 I've seen on the Nexus. Had to get this pack just for that. I don't really do full-auto weaponry myself, for the time being, but I figure I can give the Black Lotus to Nick Valentine. (You read that right.) It seems like it would be just his style.
If you ever want to fix the iron sight alignment, offset the sighting node Y coordinate to 8.333 and Z to 0.025. Lines the front post up with the rear peephole just about perfectly.
Yeah, I'm not a modeler, and I have only rudimentary ability with NIFSkope, so changing coordinates or following someone else's clear instructions is about all I can do. That said, ISControl Enabler somewhat obviates the need to be super precise with sighting nodes now.
I was using an old unfinished version. Before kNVSE was a thing. In other words, there are no patches for the current Hit animation packs/B42 Inspect mod. It may be incorrect node names and positioning of the gun in the nif.
I would really like to make a clean blued finish as a third mod for these. How do you make your textures? Substance Painter? I've got to learn for my own projects so this would be a good test down the road.
Go for it, just make sure to credit the model authors if you release it. Also - Yeah, I use substance painter, GIMP for dds conversion but some work involves a 3D program (I use blender for UV layout, etc.)

edit: no, the magazine size is 30.
