The footsteps even at max volume are too quiet. However, an easy fix I found for this is to go into FalloutPrefs.ini and set the footstep volume to a value higher than 1.0.
In my opinion when using headsets the footsteps are not too quiet. I personally don't even have them at max volume and can hear them enough. But i will sticky this for anyone who still thinks the footsteps are too quiet depending on thier audio setup .
I dont get it. Been trying for better part of an hour and still havent been able to fix the mod on my end. Everything is still vanilla audio
I have Titans of the new west 2.0. TTW as well. Not sure if AWESOMER is bugging something out with PRF but imma go test. Otherwise i give up
Edit: What the F. I was messing around with TTW plugin, The main ESP itself, Totnw, and AWSOMER and now its working? I dont even know what I did to fix the damn thing
EDIT: Nvm I found this and it fixed it for me. https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/76970 EDIT 2: Idk if there's an incompatibility with any of my mods, but the mod I liked above causes other issues regarding volume...
Unfortunately, there is a very distinct difference in volume between certain sounds, with some being significant quieter or louder than others. The easiest way to experience this in game is to simply walk around Goodsprings for a couple of seconds and then jump on top of a wooden fence. I even went into the mod's files and played about a little over dozen of the different .wav sound files to confirm this.
Since the mod hasn't been updated since March of 2020, I doubt this will be fixed, so unfortunately I'm choosing to uninstall the mod, as the louder sounds constantly break the immersion, on top of hurting my ears :(
If you guys want to increase your footstep volume over the max, put this on your falloutcustom.ini. You can adjust the value to whatever you want, 1.0 is the original max. This one below is 50% higher than the max. Try out whatever volume works best for you. Change both values for it to work.
I used this mod for a bit and thought it was kinda wack. Then I went back to vanilla and realized this mod is actually pretty damn good. Can't go back now.
If you have sound bug maybe the probleme is the sound 3D of your Headset. Disabled Windows Sonic for Headset before launching the game and your sounds are leveld good.
That Bug exist for Witcher 3 also.

From what I can glean by reading the comments, that mod just merges its attenuation tweaks with the new file paths of PR, instead of creating a new set of tweaks to better match the PR sound files, which causes inconsistent sounds. I.e. his patch for this mod doesn't work.

[Audio]
fDefaultFootVolume=1.5
fPlayerFootVolume=1.5
I didn't hear when enemies come to me from back, but my own footsteps was too loud on 100%
Now I set
fDefaultFootVolume=1.0000 in falloutPrefs.ini (or just 100% in game)
fPlayerFootVolume=0.3000 in fallout.ini
And now I have normal volume of mine and enemies footsteps.
